Aye I've missed a bunch, what's the hell headset!? And can we try it
- @silver-crowned-riders
Omg hi Jace :D so i stole this VR headset that trapped me in a digital world where i was a Pokémon for what felt like 2 years for me. It was a clearly unfinished beta build of something and the only NPC that i formed any connection to was a Cubone who felt like a real person. I don’t recommend trying it but i do want to get rid of the headset if you want it :]
Of two minds
idiomology/etymology traces the phrase '[to be] of two minds' back to the early 19th century in France, but i am delighted to observe that it's at least two thousand years older. Sappho 34:
Belos stepped out of the brush with his hands up in defense, his eyes moving between you and Beloved, his heart slamming against his chest at the sight of Beloved and what that meant.
"I am not here to harm you, either of you..."
Beloved narrowed their eyes and crossed their arms in a manner that Belos was used to when they were angry.
"I believe thou has done enough harm, honestly. Thou need to leave."
"Please, don't turn me away. I am fairly certain this is my fault somehow. I would like to help right it."
Beloved scoffed.
"Of course, it's thine's fault! If thou never stole the child, to begin with, none of this would be happening!"
Belos frowned at the cold reception Beloved was giving him. It was as if they didn't recognize him. Of course, they wouldn't recognize him, he looked much different than he did back in their time. His voice alone was not the same one they would have known. Your current form was still in a ball on the floor, muttering under your breath. A handful of times, Luz's name came up. Belos gave a heavy sigh.
"Please just-... Tell me when this started and I will go. I will try to fix this from outside of your mind."
Beloved glared at him distrustingly before caving.
"Fine. For the child."
While your current form refused to acknowledge him standing there, Beloved told him all that they knew. The last thing they remembered was you had gotten a pile of books from his study and were going through them to pass the time. One book was black with silver pages and on the front looked to be black tentacles. From there, you scanned one of the pages and the next thing you knew, you had a splitting headache that was horrible enough to make you pass out.
Belos stood there, listening and remembering back to the night before when he found you asleep on the bed but thought nothing of it. He had just gathered your form and settled in for the night. He didn't see a black book or didn't really look for it since he wasn't aware of it.
"Then, we awoke like this. Split in two."
Beloved turned their sympathetic gaze toward your current form.
"They got the worst of it and are plagued by stress and fear. I have a clear head but I am unable to do anything in this state... I am afraid if we are not returned to our former state soon... we may be stuck like this. I am unsure of what will happen then."
Belos stared down at your current form as Beloved spoke, his chest hurting from the sight of you. He steeled his gaze toward Beloved and nodded.
"I understand... Give me time. I will be back as soon as I can."
Beloved hugged themselves and looked away with a dejected expression.
"Thou better hurry. We have already spent enough time this way."
Belos nodded again before his form disappeared from your mind and reappeared by your bed. Upon returning, he found the book Beloved described before snatching it up and, before he left, he turned his attention to you. It looked as if your body was sweating, trying to dispell a sickness. He caressed your cheek with the back of his hand.
"Easy, my love... I'm going to fix this. It won't be long. Hang in there."
With that, he strode with urgency toward his study, growling under his breath about how he had been reckless for leaving out such a horrible tome. It was bad enough that you got your hands on it. What if it had been Luz? Or any of his future children? Either way, he had to reverse this.
