The Pitt Rivers Museum in Oxford
Day 3
Finally settled in and unpacked, and so so close to being over my jetlag. I’ve had so much great food already and tried out a couple really awesome pubs like the Three Goats Heads where I tried the oldest bitter (delicious!) in England and the Kings Arm which is 400ish years old. I had my first cider, and I still haven’t been carded but once last night. I visited Blackwell’s (one of the oldest bookshops in England) and had coffee in the yard of St. Mary’s church.
I love being in Oxford and learning about its history. Everything is so old and so new at once, and the architecture is amazing. As the assistant butler at Wadham college said yesterday when telling us about our college’s history, “if only the walls could talk." And I wish they could for the number of great minds who have gathered and collaborated here, not least of which including the architect Christopher Wren, and the founders of the Royal Society (who founded the Society in Wadham’s dining hall).
Speaking of Dining Hall’s, I’ve gotta rush to breakfast or I’ll miss the good stuff. Bye!
