Summary:

Bez thinks about his relationship with Pecco. The butterflies in his stomach, and the fireworks that burst just below his skin every time they touch, it can't be a coincidence.

Also, Marc is there.

Wait. Why is Marc here?

...

It was eating him up.

Really, it was no surprise. Bez was… kind of aware he had feelings for Pecco. Not fully, he thought it was just some boy-crush; Pecco was an amazing person, capable of a lot of things. Bez admired that. He assumed that what he was feeling was nothing. Now, he knows better.

It had been months now, since they started fake dating, a little less longer out in the public. The media had been eating it up. They were invasive, but they always were, and Pecco and Bez understood that they each had boundaries. Nothing was pushed, as much as the press… well, pressed.

But now, it was eating him. Spending time with Pecco, hurt, almost. Bez felt the butterflies in his stomach whenever he was near him. Every time they touched, Bez felt fireworks beneath his skin, and warmth blossomed when Pecco’s touch left.

Then, of all things to happen, Bez bumped into Marc. Inside the ranch.

“Bez, could you turn off the television?”

He thought nothing of it. Valentino didn’t like leaving it to play if no one was around to hear it, especially while they were eating dinner. He walked towards the room, and opened the door. His jaw dropped to the floor. Staring right back at him was Marc Marquez, looking as shocked as he is, and dangerously more suspicious.

“Vale! Marc è qui! È proprio qui! Perché è qui?!” Marc is here! He is actually here! Why is he here? Bez’s feet stayed planted where he was, his hand stuck to the handle on the door. Marquez was here, again. Except this time, there was no hiding. Bez could not hide from Marc, and Marc could not hide from anyone else. Bez felt Valentino behind him, his eyes still stuck to Marc.

“Ehh, he is decent enough. Join us for dinner, Marc.”

Bez felt his head turn slowly to look at Valentino, his jaw somehow dropping lower. He felt like his eyes were about to pop out of his head. He promptly felt his feet start working again and carried himself back to the dining room. Bez rushes in, probably looking panicked. Everyone looks at him.

“So?” Fabio speaks first.

“Marc Marquez is in our house!” Bez lets the words fall out of his mouth and sink in for the first time. He takes a seat right next to Pecco, like he always does. “Vale… invited him to stay for dinner.”

“What?”

Then the whispers begin while they wait. Their eyes darted to the door every second. If they are caught gossiping, Valentino would have their heads—

“The boys will do dishes tonight. They are gossiping about things they should not.”

Their heads all swiveled to the door. They stare a moment at the strange picture in front of them. Marc is actually inside of their house, talking with Valentino Rossi, and Valentino… is letting him eat in his house.

“Allora, Marc is actually joining us for dinner?” Pecco breaks the silence. Valentino nods in return. Valentino tells him to sit in the seat beside him, the one to his left. He had started leaving this one empty, and Bez was confused as to why. Now, he knows. That was Marc’s seat. Dinner would be ready soon, and they could all dig in. Bez had a million questions floating on his tongue. Why would he come here, of all places, to teleport? — Wait… Marc had seemed so shocked to teleport here the first time… Maybe he was teleporting to the wrong place!

“Marc, how much spice would you like?” Valentino called out.

“What you normally do is okay! Though, actually, maybe a bit more?”

Bez must be dreaming. Normally? How often is Marc here that Valentino knows how much spice he can handle?

“Wait, normally? You spend time here?” Pecco asks.

“He eats here,” Valentino replied for him. “Quite often… maybe, ehh, twice a month?”

Bez can’t help but turn to Marc, knowing his confused look is probably as obvious as a brick wall. Marc can teleport anywhere he wants, and he continuously chooses here. Why?

Marc shrugged, “I can’t control it. But Valentino has been a great host.”

Bez’s questions went from a million to a billion. When the food was brought out, Bez couldn’t help but let it slip. Pecco gave him a look, one of warning, but Marc smiled warmly at him. He answered his question, and the many that followed after. There were some he said he could not answer, saying he didn’t know himself, some he said he would not, and Bez respected that, he would not push. He was just curious.

Then, the drinking started, and they always bit off more than they could chew. Now they were all past drunk, and Valentino ushered them away, buzzed himself, saying he would take care of the dishes, but that the boys had to do an extra 100— no, 200 laps tomorrow. Bez rolled his eyes.

For the first time, Pecco pulled Bez to bed with him. Bez would hate himself tomorrow morning for his drunken actions because it hurt twice as much. Pecco only wants to cuddle with him when they are drunk. Pecco might be under the impression they had a fake relationship, but Bez didn’t know how he could make his feelings more obvious.

Bez was finally starting to doze off when he heard shouting. It was Marc and Valentino. Bez felt he should interrupt. Marc did not know his way around, if Valentino kicked him out… Bez… Bez wanted to talk to Marc before he left tomorrow. He could not do that if he left tonight.

He went to sit up but was stopped as an arm wrapped around his waist.

“Let them fight it out, Marco. They need it.” Pecco’s face was half crushed into the pillow, suffocating his words. Bez still heard them though, so he laid back down, and Pecco’s arm came further up, holding him by his chest.

Bez heard a door slam, but the voices continued. Then, as suddenly as it started, it ended.

…

Bez woke up with a pounding headache, and Pecco’s arm still wrapped around him. He slowly parted and felt the warmth blossom from his chest through to his shoulders. He slowly made his way through to the kitchen, trying to get a glass of water.

“Bez?”

Bez looked up from the floor, coming to stand face to face with Marc. Again.

“Wow, you look.. Heh, horrible.”

Bez chuckles. “I feel it.” He rubs the back of his neck. “Actually, Marc, can I ask you something?”

Marc’s face scrunches up, but he smiles, like he always does. He moves so he stands beside Bez, moving them towards the counter with the gentle persuasion of his arm around his shoulders. Bez takes a seat and sighs.

“Marc… I am in love with Pecco.”

“Well, yes, I know that, Bez. If you think I am hitting on Pecco— that passionate kiss you shared months ago is always brought to my mind before I even jokingly flirt. You have nothing to worry about.”

Marc’s words were an attempt at comfort, but the Bez, it felt like a stab to his heart. The passion that Pecco faked was real enough to believe. Bez couldn’t fall into that trap.

“Marc… My relationship with Pecco— … Aprilia paid me to do it. It’s fake. Pecco knows, but— Marc, I—”

Marc’s hand made its way to Bez’s shoulder, a look drifted across his face— a look of knowing. “Oh, Bez.”

“I am stupidly in love with Pecco, and he is only pretending.”

It feels like this fandom is dying around me and I’m losing my mind about it 😵‍💫😵‍💫 it feels like my whole life revolves around moon knight and idrk what to do about it

You talking about just the show? Cause I've been loving Moon Knight for years and the comics are still coming out. I'm living the dream. I remember after BEMIS and there was a freaking Moon Knight Hiatus that lasted a few YEARS. ZERO Moon Knight content. I was clutching at tiny pixelated images of him in the background of a mass gathering image of some Avengers gathering!

The problem is that if you just rely on Fandom waves, it's constantly going to rise and fall. Fandom is fickle and they will flock to the next thing at the drop of a hat and come running back at the first sign of any content. You gotta take what you can get.

Fan art is always out there. Appreciate what you find. Fanfics are out there if you like those. Comics are ongoing and discussions happen. You got your deep seekers that constantly break down new stuff and would LOVE to discuss everything going on and things in the past too!

I'm always ready to break apart and deep dive on any part of Moon Knight to death. I know others are spend hours and days digging through old content just to find that one scene where Marc stands dramatically on a bridge. You just gotta dig.

Sarcophagus time! 

We all know the scene. Jake is trapped and can’t get out. 

But why? This is PRIME Jake time. They are in so much danger and Jake isn’t there to help. Why is Jake locked away? 

Let’s rewind. 

This is the afterlife according to Marc Spector. This is Marc’s life story. This is Marc’s scales getting balanced. This is Marc’s pain. 

Opening in the afterlife, we see Marc seeing skewed versions of Steven’s life. Marc is alone and feeling lost. He is looking for Steven. Perhaps he’s scared and confused. The last thing he felt was probably intense fear for Steven. An intense protectiveness. Getting killed was what Marc thought he wanted. He wanted to fail a mission. He wanted the supposed peace that he thought would come with it. 

Yet if you look at the images of him getting shot, his face goes through so many feelings. I think I’ve rewatched that a billion times looking for something that I suspect is there and maybe I’m missing. Or I’m just an obsessed crazy person looking for something that isn’t there. 

Marc is fighting. He knows he is outnumbered, he knows he doesn’t have the suit to protect him, and he knows Khonshu isn’t there to revive him…. But he also just had his worst nightmare played out in front of him. Layla knows his secret. She knows he is a murdering monster like he feared. She’s angry with him. She walked away. Marc doesn’t care what happens to him in this moment. He is angry at himself most of all and he doesn’t care if he has a chance, he’s going to fight. 

When he gets shot, you see his face in utter surprise. There’s a struggle. A lot of people suspect that Steven briefly flashes there, feeling the pain and surprise, before Marc forcefully takes over and tries to get back up and gets shot again. 

But where is Jake? I think Jake was there too. I think maybe if I look hard enough maybe one of those expressions might belong to Jake before Marc again is there, as he sinks into the water. Maybe it’s Jake that tries to get back up to fight before he’s shot again. Maybe it’s Jake that pushes them back into the water to prevent a third shot out of hope that maybe they make it… 

Either way, Marc is the one that closes his eyes and drifts away. He’s pushed Steven down in an effort to protect him. He doesn’t want Steven to feel this. He’s locked Steven away. In death, Jake is locked away and prevented from helping Marc. 

Marc doesn’t want protection at this point. He doesn’t think he deserves it. 

Yet when he wakes up in the hospital without Steven, this is the first time since he was just a scared boy that he’s been alone. He knows he needs help, but most of all, he is afraid of what may happen to Steven. 

When he finds the sarcophagus, there are a few BIG bangs. Heavy punches. I mean BIG rattling punches. Then it results to gentle banging and tapping and him screaming to be let out. 

Marc is alone. He’s scared. He’s vulnerable. He is just a boy running away. He’s hiding from them. He can’t fight back. Those bangs? Steven is not conscious yet. This is Steven trying to surface. This is Steven trying to front to protect Marc. When that doesn’t work, Steven wakes up and cries for help, letting Marc know it’s him. 

This is where Marc makes the choice to let Steven out. To welcome him into his version of the world. Steven is now able to see things as Marc sees them. To see his memories. To go on his journey. 

Marc had to welcome Steven in. To let him see him. To let Steven be there for him. It was the first step. 

I’d be really curious to know what is written on Steven’s sarcophagus and if someone wants to let me know I’d be so happy… 

Because I’ve heard that the next Sarcophagus we come across has words of “Protector” written all over it. 

Jake’s sarcophagus is upright. He’s ready to run out. He’s ready to go to action. It’s standing. He’s always there and ready to step in. Steven’s was laying down and almost peaceful. Resting even. Like a true sarcophagus laid to rest. Jake’s looks like it’s already rocked halfway across the room. 

The door is open. Inviting them in if they should choose. Again, you hear the banging. This time it starts quieter. There’s a few bangs and rustling. He’s trying to get out himself. LIke he doesn’t want to attract attention. Then as Marc looks into the room, the banging gets louder. 

Jake has never been perceived before. He isn’t sure if he’s ready. He isn’t sure if Marc is ready. But Marc is in danger. But not a danger that Jake can handle. Marc’s soul is in danger. And who is the protector of that? Steven is the protector of the spirit and soul. 

Marc maybe has always sensed Jake there. Somewhere in the background. Missing time he knew wasn’t Steven. A voice trying to calm him down or lift him up when he’s at his worst. But Marc does not want to know. Much like Steven who thought he was talking to his Mum all this time on the phone. Steven has set himself into a delusion to protect himself. Marc’s delusion is that he does not and is unable to perceive Jake. Knowing Jake would be forcing himself to know just how self destructive he really is. 

“Marc has no idea how truly troubled he is.” Because that would be to know Jake. To know Jake is to know that he needs protection from himself. 

Marc does not open the sarcophagus. He isn’t ready to let him out. He is not ready to face this too. With Steven at his side, he can face the first part of his journey into healing. He can learn to accept that he is not the monster. That he didn’t deserve all that pain. Steven is there to heal his soul. 

Steven points to the sarcophagus and tries to point it out to Marc but Marc has already moved on. Steven is not meant to let Jake out. If he had tried to open it, I think he would have found it locked. 

Maybe next time, Jake will be let out and he will wrap his arms around Marc and tell him to stop hurting himself. He doesn’t deserve it. But that isn’t something Marc is ready for yet. And I think Jake knows this. As Marc walks away, the banging stops. 

I like to think that he can sense their journey through the Duat. That he can sense Steven helping him. He can feel Marc at peace and then he can feel him coming back for Steven. Perhaps he imagines Marc eventually coming back for him too someday. Perhaps he imagines himself as the hero, lifting Marc out of the sand and through the gates. 

And then they are back. They are alive and he can hear the communication suddenly happening between Marc and Steven. He can see them working together and he’s happy for them. He’s hopeful. 

But the next time we see Jake? When Marc goes down and is being blasted by Harrow. As Marc’s eyes roll back his mouth twists into a sneer. The look on his face is pure rage. And I am not imagining that one. Cut to skipped time and that place looks like a bomb went off. 

Jake might be locked away, but when he steps out… No one shoots his system and gets away with it. He will not fail to protect them again. He will not be left helpless to watch them suffer in doubt again.
