Old Gateau (aka forest yokan) recipe by GameTim!
Got some Old Gateau for Thanksgiving.
How to make the ghostly treat from Pokemon, Old Gateau. It's purple, it's sweet, it's totally tasty. Here's how you make it. Oh, and you can watch it live here.
What You Need:
2 cups blueberries
1/2 cup sugar
2 TBL lemon juice
1 TBL gelatin
2 TBL water
1/4 tsp vanilla extract
2 cups heavy cream
Purple spray color
In a small bowl, combine water and gelatin. Allow to soak for at least five minutes.
In a small pot, add blueberries and lemon juice. Bring to boil over medium heat. Add sugar. Stir continually until blueberries are soft, mashing them with the back of your spoon.
Cook for 10-15 minutes or until liquid is mostly evaporated, stirring so it doesn’t burn. Turn off the heat, add vanilla and gelatin. Stir to combine. Set aside and allow to cool slightly. Lightly oil a 9x9 or 8x8 brownie pan. Line with plastic wrap.
Whip your cream in a large metal bowl until it reaches stiff peaks. Carefully fold in your blueberry mixture. Fold until combined, but you can leave a few streaks. Pour into prepared pan, and spread into an even layer using an offset spatula. Cover in plastic wrap and refrigerate until set, about four hours.
Once set, remove from fridge, remove plastic and place on a small cutting board. Slice into 9 squares. Place slices on a wire rack. Spray with purple food color until covered. Serve immediately. Leftovers can be kept in the fridge.
