The Broken Core.

“We don’t speak of Old York. We don’t breathe of it.” - An ICE known only as Delta 3, stationed at the edge for 114 years

Old York...it exists, this scar on the world, a vast, living wound where a city of millions once thrived. Now it's a void of spires and poison, stretching outward in a death-zone radius too dangerous for most sensors, much less humans.

The poison… it pulses. It’s not static, either. Sometimes, it recedes like a tide, and other times, it lashes outward, corroding anything foolish enough to be close.

There are also places in Old York where the laws of physics… they just forget how to work. Gravity stutters. Time loops back on itself. Light bends in ways that shouldn’t be possible. Signals fragment into what sound disturbingly like prayers.

Some theorize that Old York is where the old world's neural net died screaming...and something else woke up in its place.

Around the massive ruin, a silent circle: ICE-populated outposts, settlements, and watch-points. An automated border that no human crosses. These are not military garrisons - they are pilgrimages. A silent barrier of sentries built to shield. Each ICE who lives here has chosen to serve, most of them for life.

But...why? Why ICE only? Unfortunately...few know the answer, and those who do, refuse to speak of it. The records are locked behind impossible encryption. Even among kin, the ICE do not speak of what they know. Those who tried to decode the logs… they all stopped. And if asked? They won’t say what they saw. All any of them have ever said about what they learned is this:

“Old York remembers. And it has not forgiven.”
