Right before Otto Octavius dies (probably the same death as in Spider Man 2 (2004)), he gets teleported to a different dimension, where Peter just got his powers. And Otto decides to help Peter rather than be his enemy. So they become kinda lab partners and Doc helps him get used to everything!
There is also an ex-Spider Man, who also decides to help Peter when he finds out about his new powers. So we’ve got 2 father figures XD
