Sam and Max Headcanons!
- To start off, Sam and Max are married! However, they act more like best friends than the typical married couple. Because of this, people around them are often left wondering whether or not they're actually a couple. They're not exactly the most lovely-dovey couple (although Sam is, arguably, the most romantic of the two) but they're no less caring and supportive towards each other. You can always tell by the constant jokes and innuendos they make at each other! - When Sam and Max got married, they had a courthouse ceremony instead of a traditional wedding. It was more cost-efficient and it got their union straight to the point without the fuss. Plus, they both think the wedding industry is a total hack. Then why are they shown having a wedding and keeping pictures of their wedding in the cartoon? - That's because the wedding wasn't real! Sam and Max have an inside joke about weddings, and that inside joke evolved into a theatrical improv roleplaying game. - "The Wedding Game" is Sam and Max's favorite game whenever they have a day off. It was inspired by the dramatic and often terrible portrayals of marriage in noir films, as well as reality tv shows like Bridezillas. The premise is simple: create the most ridiculous reason to either go through or not go through with the ceremony. The Bride is pro-wedding while the Groom is anti-wedding (this can be switched). Whoever makes their opponent laugh wins! This game can easily go from 0 to 100 really fast, as it goes into "Cards Against Humanity" levels of crazy. - Every round of "The Wedding Game" is an unusual yet unforgettable experience. No one knows what's going to be said and no one knows how it's all going to end up. Anything can range from costume changes, to silly props, to weapons (fake ones or at least ones without ammo), to musical numbers! Sam and Max's counterarguments become a massive storyline full of plot twists and other surprises. This can even lead to "crimes of passion" where they pretend to murder each other!
