Sorry this is so late, I am away again (Wonder is never home, has blisters on their feet and always a train-headache). While I was thinking about this edit you made (that I am calling a lollipom) I thought about the lollipop lady I walk past every day to work, and figured Pom would LOVE that job. Do you have lollipop ladies (or nonladies) outside the UK? If you don't:

They wear bright high vis jackets and stand at crossings near school with a big stop sign, and walk into the traffic to force it to stop and let kids cross, especially on cold, rainy and foggy days. Sometimes, even as a grown up, they stop the traffic for you 🥹 and you HAVE to say thank you to the lollipop lady!

Evening half-guy! Sorry been out with the extended family today - this is the ask game, and thanks for the prompt!

👽 A headcanon about a weird quirk of theirs'

All together: team Chaotix do a lotnof makebelieve/ pretend games that they treat as serious but all know are games. When Silver teams up with / stays with them, it takes him a long time to figure out when they're playing. So, for example, if they had a running joke going on about what's in the fridge (e.gm "what do we have in the fridge?" "Oh a severed head and some car bolts" "great we'll get the slowcooker out") Silver will join in with suggestions but also be completely serious. ("No, you have to take a brain out! That's really dangerous, and also tastes bad!" [Silence in the room] "... Or so I've heard...")

Individually below cut:

I think Charmy has fairly high stim needs and that makes him a fidget. I also think he talks to the room at large, narrating what he's doing most of the time. This is slightly handy - if he suddenly goes quiet, he's doing something he shouldn't be!

I think when Espio is angry or scared or overwhelmed, he likes being on the ceiling/ walls. I take this from that tangible difference I feel when my emotions are too strong, so I lay on the floor. Laying on the floor is different than laying on a bed. Emotionally. So I imagine laying stuck to the ceiling is very zen.

Vector is a hard one, because I genuinely believe that a lot of his affectations are learned social behaviours to bring out the best in his boys. My evidence for this is when he was on Team Rose in free riders he seemed definitely to be different with Amy and Cream, and the rest is just headcanon conjecture. That's not to say he's not genuine, just that his genuine persuasion is to try to match energies with people, and its helpful as a detective. If he's alone, I do think he bursts into humming/ sounding out a tune often. But like, not the start of a bar or phrase, just halfway in.

Silver is one big quirk of a boy, but I believe in my heart that he gets words mixed up and will forever. Both in the 'hand me the thingamajig for the wotsit' manner, but also in the manner of someone who's only heard most words, not read them. So like: Skellington. Human Beans. All swell that end swell. That kind of mix up. I think he's such a sweetie.

🎲 and 🧸 for the Ask Game

Hi Half-guy!! This is for the teamdarkweek ask game!

🎲 What's their favourite game to play?

I think Shadow and Rouge like card games, especially high deception ones: shadow has a natural pokerface so took to it extremely well. They gamble with the money in Rouge's purse, but occasionally escalate from coins to apliances, Chaos Emeralds, the Master Emerald and Omega.

Rouge has taught Omega how to trash talk and they riff this a lot. Omega has a natural ability for hitting on insecurities, but Rouge has frighteningly thick skin when it comes to Omega - she can take it on the chin only when it comes to him.

Omega and Shadow like competitive games, and can compete with any task they're given. Sent shopping? Finishing the list first. Baking a cake? This is my side, that's yours: no sabotage! I canned it now, but I had a fic planned for valentines day about them being Rouge's Maids of Honour at her Wedding ans absolutely gameifying/ competing to sort it the best, but I just don't like shipping Rouge enough to finish it.

All together? I reckon they genuinely would enjoy playing silly videogames together (Pippa funnel is what I've got in my head). I reckon Rouge would get them and make Shadow play, and Rouge and Omega heckle him. Contrary to what many people believe, I do not think Shadow is a natural at video games. I believe he has great reaction tines but makes really strange choices. I'm subbing to their twitch.

🧸 How do they show eachother they care?

I think Rouge is very tight lipped; she always complains about doing nice things for them or pretends that she's actually doing it for her own benefit. Despite being someone who expects a lot of others, she is an 'act of service' sort of person, and does a lot for the other too - more than they would actually ever notice.

Shadow likes his personal space, but he will stay by they're side if they're in a crisis. No matter how uncomfortable, unpleasant or unwinnable this is. He is a holding-hair-back friend through and through. Back to the wall, he's still there. Lashing out in pain telling him how much they hate him and he should leave them alone? Well. It's gonna be a tough night, because that did hurt. He's probably gonna stand outside the door as quietly as he can.

I think Omega is actually the best at kind words. He's more likely to say somwthing genuinely complimentary than the others, especially about what somebody is good at. This is especially meaningful when it's something they don't think they're good at, and they know he means it 100%

I think Trip is a bit young to know much about herself just yet, bUt I do think it will be so so cute if she has a bit of a crush on Amy because of how she treats Amy so specially in the game! When she's older, she could drive a subaru perhaps ❤️

METAL SONIC

My favourite Metal headcanons have been with an agender or transfem Metal. I think that part of what makes the story so good there is that Metal's gender is literally assigned by Eggman, and along with it all the expectations that go with it, so Metal rejecting the identity along with the identity as Sonic's copy is SO effective.

FANG

I don't have any I am hugely tied to, but I do think Fang has done drag. That guy has had to make many new identities to hide behind, and I would love to know about all of them ❤️ He won't tell anyone, but he had fun!

🥾 What is their favourite adventure they've had? Their least favourite?

The cheesy answer is this one, but I also reckon if she ever found the Lost Hex Dessert Zone she would be one very happy flower lol.

She also has seen some pretty incredible things, she would enjoy recounting sitting on top of her space ship sunbathing while she was caught in a solar drift that made her travel slow, just looking out at the spacedust and absorbing light from loads of stars. Or that time she visited a planet who's inhabitants were all tiny little wiggly worm-on-a-strings that she had to tiptoe over and would nest in her flowers

🎨 What colour suits them best (whether or not they wear it)? What aesthetic reflects their personality, even if it doesn't suit the series?

I usually put her in purple or pink, I think browns, yellows and oranges suit her well. She is intended to be kinda groovy like 70s fashion - which doesnt quite fit sonic but isnt too far off.

🤫 What's their biggest secret? Will it come out, and what will the do then?

She thinks her biggest secret is that she caused an accident back home due to her own selfish cowardice. It will almost certainly come out at some point, and she'll realise her real secret is that she's afraid to see her mum again after all this time because she knows it was wrong to go so far and not tell her where she was going or when she'd be back.

🎂 What do they do for their birthday? What might they ask for this year?

She celebrates spring, but its kinda all flowers birthdays. She has some traditions from home, but mostly I think she ignores its relation to her, and focuses on the new growth of the next generation.

If she understood about birthday presents, I think she'd be really impressed by like clothes and accessories. Sonic's world is kinda really good at textiles compared to most planets since everyone uses them daily, and she would probably feel really chuffed if somebody gave her like a colourful fabric scrunchie or skirt. Especially because she thinks this is like a quaint cultural practice, you could give her a set of odd socks or some knickers and she'd treasure them as a memento of this world!

🤦 What do you wish people understood about them?

I wish people didn't feel the need to compare Rouge especially to Maria in Shadow's eyes, because she can be important to him without that. I wish they would understand that Omega does not lack feelings even though they are different to how we feel our feelings. I wish they would understand Shadow doesn't need to become soft and social to heal. I wish we could all stop pretending to find traditional family dynamics where there aren't any. And I really can't read one more Rouge and Omega are Shadow's wingmen - that ones not inherently implausible, I am just a bit fatigued of it.

💼 What 'normal' job would they get if they had to live a 'normal' life?

For Shadow, my heart says musician because it was my fave AU as a teenager. But he would not go out and choose that path for himself, he would pick something more regimented. I would say he might start in something like drug research or military depending on if he went through a healing journey or not. Either way he will burn out and become disillusioned when he realises this industry does not protect people and is evil. Then he will have a career break, do some gardening, maybe intern at a library for a bit etc, then discover that he actually really likes working for non-profits.

To go even roguer with rouge - because really whats the point of being obvious and saying gemologist? - I think she would make a really good lawyer. Not because she has a strong sense of justice. Oh no no that is not a quality she needs. See the law is adversarial, and sometimes you need to argue a casebyou know you're wrong on, but try to find a way to win based on technicalities, loopholes, and the right amount of subtle manipulation. I also think it would be completely hilarious if she had a side hustle of theft while being a bigshot in the criminal justice system. I appreciate that's all a bit insane.

Omega should not be in the workforce.

But if he were somehow in a situation where he was as similar to how he is now, but required an income and had the choice, I think he would excel at the following: driving taxis through insane traffic with horrendous road rage all around; club bouncer to metal clubs and concerts; bodyguard in general, as long as he respected the person; judge on drag race.
