ONEIROPHOBIA
by Ikaruga
I've been extremely afraid of dreaming lately. And I'm not just afraid of bad dreams, I'm afraid of any dreams. I've had a lot of anxiety about dreams in the past, because I often have hyper realistic dreams that I struggle to wake up from. I also struggle with derealization when I'm awake.
I'm planning to talk to my therapist about this, because it's gotten so bad lately. However, I'm also hoping there's some sort of witchy thing I could do to help. I love the idea of dreamcatchers, but I know those are heavily appropriated. I'm going to do more research and see if there's something similar out there that is not appropriated or maybe buy an authentic one? I'd really like to make my own, but I want to do it right.
I'm also going to start keeping a dream journal and see if that helps. I'll update if I find anything helpful!
Oneirophobia
[Oneirophobia - fear of dreams]
...
They say that sometimes, to reach your goals, all you have to do is believe in your dreams, that they'll surely come true.
What a pathetic joke; to think that believing in dreams will solve your problems. All it does is put false hopes in your head, tricking your heart into believing everything's okay, until it all comes crashing down when reality stares you in the eye.
No amount of dreaming will ever erase the nightmares I've been facing for years. Nor will it make up for what I've lost way back when.
New chapter of Blood Orange is posted!
A little coffee, a little angst, some personal demons, and a highly intrigued Toshinori. (Contains mild Oneirophobia/Somniphobia.)
Read it here!
Oneirophobia
I close my eyes
And lay down for another dreamless night
A sudden noise
A crack of lighting and chatter of rain
A blind night
Shrouded in darkness, a welcome guest
A sudden noise
A crack and a thud
Blood!
I close my eyes
And lay down for another dreamless night
Oneirophobia {from Greek όνειρο (oneiro), meaning "dream", and φόβος (phobos), meaning "fear"} is the fear of dreams. It is a fear of the irrational way in which dreams unfold. It causes one to suffer through experiencing frightening dreams or negative life experiences that affect those dreams.Dreams run wild and can't be tamed but unlike the popular belief are very much real and do cause real impact in the lives of people. For example people suffering from PTSD oftentimes relive their traumas in the dreams.
Many people suffering from oneirophobia try to avoid sleep altogether!

Oneirophobia (or a fear of dreaming)

Bruce isn't an insomniac. Far from it, he loves sleeping. He feels so energized after a good night's sleep. The real problem is his dreams. When his subconscious makes him a child again, hands covered in his parent's blood and trembling at the man who killed them. Since sleeping with Joker in his bed, the dreams have lessened. But they still haven't entirely gone away.
