Imagine the guys are trying to teach the rules of social distancing, wearing masks, and all the works to baby jeon, but all the social distancing rules goes out the window for him when baby jeon misses y/n too much
trying to adjust to a global pandemic was hectic enough.
never in your life, you had imagined you would need to explain these things to jungkook that you have yet to comprehend yourself. not to mention, it’s another level when you decide you can’t see him for the time being. before everything went haywire and borderline havoc, you had returned from a business trip. (all the boys had been worried sick, but when you assure them your test came out negative and you’re just self-quarantining at home, they still call you everyday to make sure you’re fine or they just really want to see you, no one knows)
so... during your absence, the boys had to try to explain to jungkook why he can’t go out whenever he wants now and why he has to wear a mask. things got complicated when the seven-year-old frowns at everything, unsure why he can’t go out and why he can’t see his noona when he wants to? it’s like all of a sudden he’s a caged bird, and he doesn’t get it.
it gets worse when all you can do is try to calm him down through a video call, because you still have a week left (and you’re taking an extra measure of a week, so technically, two more weeks left until you can officially see him in person).
“noona i wanna see you,” the (actual) boy pouts at the phone, face too close for you to make up his features but you can roughly see his face. “h-here,” you hear jimin’s voice nearby, holding the phone properly and even that gets jungkook upset. he already hates how far he’s away from you, to have the phone pulled away further?
it pains your heart, now noticing his tear-strained cheeks and how red his eyes are. you never knew this would get this hard, but let’s be real, your heart dropped from the moment you heart jungkook has been crying every night when he can’t see you because of how much he misses you.
“n-noona...” his voice cracks, the tears welling up in his eyes as he sniffs, using the back of his hands to wipe his eyes because he’s trying not to cry but the tears fall faster than he can wipe them away with his small hands, “i miss... i miss you... why can’t noona come back?”
you swear you hear a couple murmurs of the other boys in the back, some cursing at how painful this sight is but it’s for the best. you can’t risk getting any of them infected. they had been quarantining since the order was given out and they only head out to get necessities if they can’t be delivered due to maxed out delivery slots. so you had to be extra careful.
even if it means seeing jungkook cry like this.
“i-i’m back, see? i’m at home!” you try not to let your voice falter, but anyone can tell how your voice is shaking even as you smile and show your place around. jungkook is familiar with the setting, but all he wants is you with him.
the boy shakes his head.
“t-that’s not home,” he sniffs, he then shows you his bunny, “home is here, with me, with hyungs,”
you heave out a sigh, and put your phone closer to your face. that gets jungkook to approach the phone, not too close but enough for his face to fill up the frame of the phone.
“jungkookie, it’s... it’s a difficult time we’re living in now. do you know what is happening outside?”
he shakes his head.
“it’s... people are getting sick, jungkookie. and this sickness... it’s easy to catch if we’re not careful. even if we are careful, but the people around us when we’re outside with aren’t, we can get sick. do you understand so far?”
he slowly nods, a couple of tears falling, some drying up.
“you remember noona leaving to the airport, right? when you came to see me go?” he nods again, the sound of your voice and your words slowly being absorbed makes him calm, even if he’s away from you, “noona just got back a week ago, and for people who recently return, we have to make sure we don’t leave the house for fourteen days. but i’m doing a little longer, just so i make sure i’m safe before i see you, and the hyungs. because being safe, is better than being sorry.”
this adorable angel asks: “w-what does that mean? be safe than sorry?”
“it means... noona would rather make sure i’m one hundred percent not sick, to make sure none of you get sick too. so please listen to your hyungs with everything they tell you because they just want to keep you safe, jungkookie. after two weeks, if the conditions allow, i’ll be right there with you and bunny,”
he gulps, tears completely drying up except the ones now drying in his eyes, “t-two more weeks? then noona will be here?”
you nod, “right there with you. can you please stay strong until then? it’s hard, but i trust you’re a strong boy. for me?”
he uses his shirt to wipe the tears in his eyes, his lips automatically frowning because of how upset he still is, but he tries his best to give you a small smile.
“jungkookie will try his best, for noona,”
you refuse to let him see the tear rolling down your cheek, but you do let him hear you whisper (and the boys): “that’s all i can ask for, jungkookie.”
((”for fuck’s sake, i just want y/n to be here,”
“gee, i wonder if it’s for jungkook or for you.”
“what? you’re telling me you don’t want her here? with us?”
“...”
“...”
“...yeah, that’s what i fucken thought.”))
