I have neither read nor watched heated rivalry but I did write a short conversation crackfic on the premise of "what if instead of dating Rose after the Boston freakout Shane actually. You know. Talked to his best friend. And then Hayden Pike came up with the most absolutely bonkers solution on the planet to help Shane figure out whether it was Ilya or just needing to get laid and volunteers, genuinely 100% platonically, for the job. And then they talked about it like hockey because it's the only way they can take it seriously for long enough to have the conversation"
So anyway if I posted it would anyone read it because I think it's hilarious

objectober day 3: tea
She'd spent the whole train ride planning what she was going to say to Mave, and the crawling 20-floor elevator ride perfecting her lines in her head. She didn't even care who'd be joining them; she was going to say her piece, or just as likely die trying, given how things had been going lately.
Of course, That plan flew straight out the fine crystal windows once she saw zir sitting there.
"You get invited to the most expensive bar in the country," she began instead, "every wall, top shelf liquor. You're not even paying. And you get"—she appraised zir cup sharply—"is that Earlinmyer's Bargin Black Tea?"
Mave only spared zir new companion a glance and the slightest sigh. "Honestly, You oughta to tell me how you've gone this long without killing yourself, sug. I'd love to know."
She blinked, somewhat affronted "What?"
"Word of advice," zi breezed right by her, lifting the teacup. Warm light flickered off the thin rim. "Never let a client get you drunk."
Mave seemed almost amused as zi sipped. Sweetie, for her part, fought back the instinct to tackle zir right then and there.
This was gonna be a long night.
