I got my In Trousers vinyl in the mail (!!!) today, including the original liner notes with the whole libretto. It includes the lines to Marvin’s original speech from How America Got its Name, which is very different than how it is in the 1985 version. Either way, here’s a link to the original 1978/9 version script, and here’s a link to the revised 1985 version.

for those of you who have seen the heathers bootleg, can we talk about the parallels between the start and end of ‘our love is god’? JD wraps an arm around Veronica’s neck to hug her (while still facing the audience) and they’re both smiling, then at the end of the same song they’re in the same position except they just killed two people and JD has a gun in his hand, while Veronica is seemingly trying to escape from his grasp(?) idk I just think this is like the turning point for their relationship and what Veronica thinks of JD.
