Bat Boy: A History
Bat Boy has been with me at supermarket check out aisles since 1992, when he knocked Nessie off the front page of Weekly World News. I missed the Alligator Man (MISSING LINK????) but grew accustomed to tracking the seasons by Bat Boy's latest plight.
Bat Boy, for some reason, was ever only photographed at one angle and with one facial expression, but Weekly World News knew how to re-use photos of Nessie and hubcap UFOs for years before this. They milked that one stock image for all it was worth. I mean, Bat Boy was very real, of course. Weekly World News just couldn't be bothered to take another photo of him, or of anything, really. One was enough.
Bat Boy was often in danger. I worried for him. The world seemed set against him for some reason. He couldn't help being part Bat, part Boy. Can any of us?
Bat Boy went on to graduate high school. Maybe that only happened in my head. Anyway, here's a coloring book page of him. I did this in honor of Bat Boy and his struggle to escape a government lab. We all have a government lab to escape. Enjoy coloring Bat Boy.
