Summary: A super tiny sort of Oobleck thing I love him don’t look at me
“Professor, can we ask you about boys?”
You turned and looked at team RWBY, minus the B, with a raised brow.
“Boys?”
“Yeah!” Yang answered. “Weiss wants to ask Neptune to the dance, but she doesn’t know how.”
“That’s not true!” Weiss argued. “I’m sorry professor, this wasn’t my idea, really.”
“It’s okay,” you laughed, “but I’m single, so I don’t know how much help I’d be anyway.”
“You’re single?!” Ruby shrieked, “But you’re so cool! And pretty!”
“And you kick massive butt!” Yang punctuated her statement with a fist in the air.
“I’m sure she’s just waiting for someone smart, strong and sophisticated. Right Professor [Name]?” Weiss crossed her arms confidently.
“Well, I have someone in mind, but… I don’t know if he’d really fit that description,” you giggled to yourself and the girls all leaned forward with interest.
You turned your head slightly, leading their gazes down the corridor and into the doorway of a lecture hall where Doctor Oobleck was sprinting around, as was his want. There was a long pause before a collective outcry came from the three of them.
“Professor you cannot be serious!” Weiss cried.
“No, it’s fine! Doctor Oobleck is… cool… I guess…” Yang mumbled.
“Professor, no offense but… what do you see in him?” Ruby asked innocently, if not a bit repulsed, and you laughed again.
“Well, he’s smart, so Weiss got that part right. He might be a bit.... eccentric, but he’s cute. And he makes me laugh. He’s a hell of a huntsman too, whether you believe it or not and he’s-”
“Here!” Yang interrupted, “He’s here! Here he is! Hiiii Doctor Oobleck.”
Everyone tensed collectively, turning their attention to him.
“Ah yes hello girls, lovely to see you, and young miss [Name], there you are I’d been looking for you. I was wondering if you’d like to accompany me to lunch today?”
The girls eyes lit up visibly, but you gave him a sad face.
“Oh I’m sorry Doctor, I just told the girls I’d help them with some extra training,” you stuck your lip out in a pout. “How about tomorrow?”
“Oh,” he tried not to sound disappointed. “Very well! Of course, education comes first, so tomorrow it is! Study hard girls!”
And off he zipped. Team RWBY turned to you in astonishment.
“Why did you say no?!” Weiss asked and you grinned.
“You see, now I know he’s interested in spending time with me, but I don’t wanna seem too eager, so you lie and offer up a solution so he knows I’m still interested, but it can wait. Then when I show up tomorrow to have lunch with him, it wasn’t even my idea, because he asked first.”
The girls stared at you, mouths slightly agape, as you stood there with your hands confidently on your hips.
“Professor [Name], you’re a genius,” Weiss sighed.
For the ficlet request, how about a cute Oobleck and Zwei reunion? I always did like their teamwork back in Vol 2.
This starts just after the fall of Beacon.“C’mon Zwei,” you said to the little pup at your heels. You were pretty sure he belonged to Ruby, but you hadn’t seen her since they had rushed her to hospital. “Ironwood said that the flat he put Port and Oobleck in for the night had a spare bed. We can rest when we get there,”The pup whined softly but followed you down the hall anyway. You stopped in front of the correct door. You quickly tried to flatten your hair with your hand, though you suspected you still looked a right mess. Fighting Grimm all afternoon could do that to a person. Taking a deep breath, you knocked.“Ahh, y/n,” professor Port said, opening the door. “How can I help you?”“Ironwood said that you had a spare bed I could crash on?” you asked.Port nodded. “I’ll just go set it up,”Zwei dashed past your legs and into the room. You followed him and found that Zwei had found Oobleck, and jumped onto his lap. Bartholomew, for his part, was making a fuss of Zwei.“Where did you spring from?” he asked softly.“I found him in the Ruins at Beacon,” you replied, sitting down next to him. “He’s called Zwei, isn’t he?”Bartholomew nodded. “He’s Ruby’s dog. Have you seen her?”You shook your head. “Not since they rushed her to hospital,”“We’ll have to let this little guy stay here for the night then,” Bartholomew mumbled, still making a fuss of Zwei.Zwei whined again, and put both his paws on Bartholomew’s chest, trying to sniff his face. Bartholomew picked the dog up, and cuddles him, looking away from you.“You ok?” you asked, placing one hand on his shoulder. He nodded. “It’s just… So many civilians are dying, right now, at the hands of Grimm, and there is not we can do about it,”You sighed. He was right of course. This was the biggest breach in years. Thousands more would die before the end of the night, and there was nothing you could do.Sorry for ending so morbidly, but thanks for the request!
As always, I am willing to add characters to a list if they are requested. Just speak up.
James Ironwood is the big spoon and he will not budge on this. He wants to hold you (and protect you and keep you safe but he's not going to mention that during a cuddle). Likes to wrap his arms around your middle so he doesn't "lose" you. He can actually be a little smothering, to be honest, but he can also make you feel very safe and cared for. He's also a big fan of having you on his lap, if he can manage it.
Ozpin usually just relaxes against you, probably with one arm around you. He's more of a casual cuddler than anything else, enjoying the close contact but not getting too tangled up. But when you're both settled in for the evening and neither of you have to worry about work or interruptions, he enjoys cuddling up close to you and letting you rest against him. He also tends to kiss while he cuddles, mostly your neck or forehead.
Qrow melts against you. This is not a human being, this is not a bird, this is a man in liquid form. He is almost always up for cuddles. Seriously, almost always. He can be teaching a lesson and you can just crawl right onto his chair with him and he will continue teaching while he cuddles you. He flops down on top of you when he's in a playful mood. He prefers to cuddle from the top, if that makes sense? He wants to be held. He likes to rest his head on your chest, too. Cuddling usually leads to him falling asleep, which you can't mind because it's adorable.
Oobleck really, really wants to cuddle but also gets a little antsy before he settles in, so he can't just let the cuddling happen. He has to adjust and readjust and ask you if you need anything and run to go grab a blanket. But when he finally does settle in, he wants to talk. He doesn't care if you're holding him or if he's holding you. He wants to talk. Not because he can't shut up, but because he always has something he's learned that he thinks you'll like to hear about. And he really does tell great stories, so it's not like you're just humoring him. He's an attentive cuddler, though. He always makes sure that you're comfortable and enjoying yourself.
Roman has no chill. He sprawls over you like the drama queen he is and demands you pay attention to him. He also has trouble making up his mind about whether to spoon you or let you spoon him because he wants both and he can't decide. He likes it when you play with his hair (you'd think he'd be protective of his immaculate fringe, but nope, not with you), and he likes to kiss you on the nose. Or anywhere on the face that isn't your lips, because he's a tease. But you gotta be careful with Roman, because he bites (he insists that it's a love-nibble).
Mercury is a handsy, pushy, sit-down-or-I'll-make-you-sit-down cuddler who has absolutely no problem with grabbing you and pulling you in for a cuddle whether you really want to or not. It's kind of frustrating. Cuddling with him is kind of like a fight. He wants to be in charge and you want to remind him that he doesn't get to be in charge all of the time. But Merc's not out to make you unhappy - if you're still tetchy about the situation after a few minutes, he'll submit to whatever you want or let you go. You just have to hassle with him a little bit first.

I will happily add more characters to this list if anyone requests them.
Ozpin knows how to deal with his emotions. Jealousy is, admittedly, one of the uglier ones, and one that still makes him uncomfortable, but you don't need to fear him lashing out or being unreasonable. If anything, jealousy makes him unsure of himself. He wonders if he's not capable of giving you everything you need, and if you'll seek affection elsewhere. He may, if he is capable, manipulate a situation to give himself an excuse to be closer to you. The real problem with this is that sometimes Ozpin can be too quiet about his worries and not express himself, leaving you wondering what's gone wrong. To resolve feelings of jealousy, you'll have to push him a little bit, or he'll never tell you and things will only become tense. In the end, everything will be alright, but keep an eye on him. Ozpin plays jealousy close to the chest.
Oobleck, unlike Ozpin, isn't so good at dealing with such things (not that Ozpin's all that great at it, but at least he can keep it together). Oobleck is very comfortable with you and it's not easy to make him feel jealous, but when it happens, he gets very nervous. Oobleck will talk circles around anyone he thinks might "steal" your favor, partially in an attempt to prove himself as intellectually superior but also to confuse them to the point that they back off. He'll try to grab your attention as often as possible, distracting you. Thankfully, Oobleck is rather obvious and you'll be able to figure out what his problem is very quickly, whether you're typically good at reading people or not.
Jealousy makes Qrow Branwen get physical. Not in a violent way, just in an assertive way. PDA levels skyrocket. He postures and makes himself look bigger than he is, not to mention he'll toy around with his scythe more than necessary. He gets overly snippy with any "rival" in an attempt to passive-aggressively warn them off. He usually tries to keep you from being aware of this, just because he doesn't want you to... well, think that he's jealous, but you'll figure it out. He's not as subtle as he thinks he is.
James Ironwood glares. Not at you, just at everybody else. He folds his arms and reminds himself to breathe deeply. He's not used to dealing with this. He's never really cared before. All of his previous relationships were short-lived and casual, never leaving room for something as harsh as jealousy. He hates feeling jealous, but you are your own person and he doesn't want to crowd you, so he won't step in or interfere. Much like Ozpin, he tends to watch from a safe distance and hope that he didn't just screw things up. He'll say something to you if he feels particularly uncomfortable, but he usually just tries to breathe through the emotion and be a reasonable, rational person.
Made somewhat of a pragmatist by his work, Roman Torchwick knows that you're going to be around other guys and he's going to be around other women. That's life. Whoop-de-doo. But he is also the most jealous baby ever to grace the face of Remnant. He crosses his arms, scowls, and makes sassy commentary from the side. He will one-up, push around, and talk down to any perceived rival, to the point that you have to have a talk with him about immature behavior. He hardly thinks this is fair, seeing as you don't seem to get jealous at all (and he sort of feels bad about that sometimes, because don't you want him to yourself as much as he wants you?), but he's done a lot for you. Keeping his jealousy in check won't be the most difficult thing he's done to please you... until next time, that is.
Lie Ren is surprisingly used to being jealous, to the point that he hardly even registers it anymore. He's jealous of children with families. He's jealous of people who are brave enough to speak their minds. He's jealous of Nora's energy and Pyrrha's ability to make everyone like her. So when he gets jealous about you, he almost doesn't realize it. When he does, he's disappointed in himself. He keeps quiet and keeps his head down, reminding himself that jealousy is unattractive and unbecoming and a distraction from his training. He's used to jealousy. He can deal with it. But if he sticks a little closer to your side than usual and makes more of an effort to keep your focus on him, you probably know why.
Much like Ren, Jaune Arc is used to jealousy. Having fallen short of everybody's hopes and expectations all his life while surrounded by amazingly talented people has made him very familiar with that feeling. Unlike Ren, however, he doesn't deal with it so well. Maybe it's immaturity or just inexperience, but he feels absolutely hurt when he's jealous, and sometimes lashes out in response. This almost always leads to a fight. He'll apologize before the end, but in the beginning, he turns all his hurt outwards, and it tends not to go well. You have to work to break him of his jealousy and he has to work to overcome yet another flaw, but no one will work harder for this than him.
Sun denies it at first, reminding himself that he is reasonable and it's awesome that you have guy friends and it's cool that you like hanging out with his team so much and it doesn't matter that Sage has a little bit of a crush on you and it's fine that Scarlet gets so excited when you come to visit them. But then he realizes that he is, indeed, jealous, and he starts making excuses to keep you away from his team or whoever it is that's making him feel this way. This is always very temporary, and he actually tends to admit to it. He doesn't like tension and he doesn't see the point of secrets. He tends to feel guilty about being jealous because he knows he's being stupid, so he feels like he has to confess to you and have your forgiveness.
Neptune, the secretly insecure lil bean that he is, immediately begins to wonder if you're bored with him or if you've realized that he's not nearly as cool as he's made himself out to be. If he would stop and think for five seconds, he would remember that you already know about how not-so-cool he really is, but Neptune gets... anxious, about your relationship. He also doesn't want to say anything, because you have to reassure him about things all the time and he feels bad about this being on more problem that he causes. He very often feels inadequate, especially as a boyfriend, and jealousy amplifies that feeling by about ten. He stresses out and gets a little depressed until you confront the issue. Then it's over as quickly as it started, but for a while, he's just miserable.
Mercury can get jealous very quickly and, I won't lie, but he can be a bit of a jerk about it. He doesn't get upset as much as he gets irritated, because, on one hand, he knows that he probably doesn't have any real reason to be jealous, but on the other hand... it just. drives. him. crazy. He has no problem with you knowing he's jealous. He wants you to know. He wants everybody else to know, too, because if anyone thinks they can get a way with getting between him and his girl, they've got another thing coming. Mercury will physically put himself between you and whoever he thinks is a problem.
Headcanons: A Relationship With Bartholomew Oobleck
Requested by @harpo-groucho
Dr. Bartholomew Oobleck, that beautiful caffeine addict, hasn't had much -or any- experience with relationships for several reasons, so he has no idea what he's doing. All he knows is that he likes you and that he wants you to like him.
You two probably met because he ran into you.
Coffee might have been spilled, but I ain't sayin' nothin'.
He immediately liked you, and I do mean immediately.
I'm not saying it was love at first sight but he was one awestruck hedgehog.
How he convinced you to go out with him is a mystery. No, seriously, you have no idea what he said to you. You had yet to learn Oobleck-ese so you just said "okay...?" and apparently he had asked you on a date because that's what happened.
And despite the fact that he's probably never dated, he does know how to have a good time, so it was fun and you agreed to go out with him again.
Always has something new and "exciting" to show you.
Will grab you by the hand and speed-drag you places.
You learn to understand his high-speed jabber very quickly.
He appreciates that you treat him as an equal. People have a tendency to talk down to him because he's a little... strange. And being difficult to understand often gives off the impression that he's not so smart, despite being a doctor. You know better.
Um, he's a little bit of a spellcheck nut despite the fact that his handwriting is a mess, so if you ever have a paper you need checked over, hand it to him. He will make it perfect.
He has no chill.
Runs up, kisses you, runs off.
(Zooms back for another kiss two seconds later.)
He. Is. The. BEST. At giving you encouragement. This guy will become your own personal cheerleader if that's what you need.
"Wonderful, just wonderful, you were magnificent!"
Whatever you're interested in, he's interested too. Not because he wants to indulge you but because he is genuinely interested in learning about new things and whatever you introduce him to will be taken with utmost enthusiasm.
Aaaaand he's a closet romantic, in a traditional way.
Roses, candlelit dinners, the whole shebang.
Of course, this is all done in a very him way, so it's a little messy and a little strange and probably not in the expected setting, but that just makes it all that much more fun. And more comfortable.
He won't stop talking about you? To anybody? He will not. shut. up.
Glynda thinks it's sweet but she's a little annoyed because alright, she gets it, you're wonderful, she'd heard it a thousand times.
The students think it's hilarious and also a great way to get him off-topic in class.
Ozpin inwardly thinks it's hilarious but just smirks behind his mug.
Oobleck has a tendency to bounce when he's excited so you can just be standing there while he's bouncing on his heels next to you, chatting a mile a minute.
Likes to give you a peck on the cheek as he speeds by.
Always asks you to bring coffee when you come to see him, as if he doesn't already have coffee.
There is almost never silence with him. Not because he's constantly talking, but because he's constantly making noise. He hums and mutters and clicks his tongue and taps his shoes and drums his fingers against things and don't even get me started on what he does with silverware.
He will tell you about his day in the funniest, most exciting way possible.
He has witty jokes and double-puns galore. The laughs just keep coming.
You have to grab him by his tie if you want him to stay still.
(He won't admit that he likes when you do that.)
He likes to kiss you when you're least expecting it all the time, but if you do the same thing to him, it's like the most scandalous plot twist ever.
Asks you for your opinion on everything because he wants to know.
He actually starts to slow down to almost-average speed towards the end of the day because he downs more coffee in the morning than the evening.
This is nice because if you just need to relax, he's down for it.
But he also usually has enough energy to get stuff done while you're relaxing, so you'll barely have sat down and all your dishes have been washed and the laundry has been sorted, just like that.
Way late in the day, his caffeine buzz has dwindled down to nothing, so he'll sit and work on his lesson plans and notes.
He'll sit wherever you are while he's doing this, usually holding you hand while he does.
He's a total sweetheart. A very, very strange one, but absolutely worth it.
[This is very loosely based off of a piece of fanart of a young Oobleck I saw once. I would credit it, but I have no idea who the artist was or how to find it again.]
To be honest (to be very, painfully, woefully honest, to the point that you were so embarrassed that you would rather lie to yourself every day for the rest of your life than be this honest about such a sensitive topic ever again), you couldn't remember meeting Dr. Bartholomew Oobleck.
Which was ridiculous.
He was really hard to miss. Even if he just ran past you in a greenish blur, everybody knew without looking that that greenish, coffee-scented blur was Dr. Oobleck. Everybody knew. Except, apparently, for you, because you could not remember meeting, even in passing, this freakishly adorable man. Which was not only embarrassing, but it was about to get you in trouble, because he had just said "remember when we met."
No, Dr. Oobleck, I don't remember, which is the weirdest thing, but no matter how much I try, I cannot remember ever shaking hands with a coffee-scented blur before.
Yeah, that probably wouldn't make him feel too good, would it?
Oh crap, you thought, staring back at him as he looked at you expectantly. No, no, you did not remember when you met him, holy crap.
Pause. Rewind, for a moment.
You and Dr. Oobleck were friends. Very good friends.
As far as you could remember, the first time you met him, he had zoomed up to you, shouting your name even though you had never been introduced, and then proceeded to hug you like you had just come home from the war. And despite being more confused than you had ever been in your life, no one had ever been that happy to see you in... well, your life. And it wasn't as if he had the wrong person, because he picked you out of a crowd and got your name right and proceeded to call you by a nickname that you hadn't mentioned in any of your interviews before getting hired to work on-staff at Beacon.
So Oobleck definitely knew you. But you couldn't remember him for the life of your mother. That said, you didn't know how to say, 'no, I don't know you, person who is so freakishly happy to see me,' so you let him cling to you for the rest of the day. His joy and energy were infectious and within ten minutes, you were pretty sure that this guy was a good candidate for the best friend position that he seemed to think he already had in the bag.
He was actually your new best friend within about a week, and he might have earned that position by being the sweetest cinnamon roll you had ever met, as well as by always being around whenever you needed him and even whenever you didn't. He picked you over... everything. And everyone. You had actually had to remind him to ay attention to his students instead of you a few times, which was funny, but mildly concerning. And the more time you spent with Oobleck, the more you realized that he knew you.
He really knew you.
He knew all your favorites, and he caught all your little inside jokes that you had been laughing about since you were twelve, and he knew what you were scared of and what foods you hated and the names of your parents, for Oum's sake.
But, back to the present.
"Remember when we met?" he asked so suddenly and so casually that you almost didn't register what he said.
"Um," quoth you.
And, at that moment, you tried to figure out, at lightning-speed worthy of Oobleck himself, and acceptable way to get out of this without lying. Because thus far, despite the misunderstanding, you had yet to lie to Bartholomew. You had managed to avoid that so far (albeit with some difficulty), and you weren't about to lie to him now. You couldn't. It just wasn't right.
"I..." Your heart pounded. You couldn't do this. You could not do this. "I, uh, I'm kind of fuzzy on that, really... I don't remember a lot of stuff from back then, actually..."
Which had to be true, because you didn't remember Oobleck, who acted as though he had been a very present part of your life years ago. And you were sure it was years ago, because he had many times lamented (and you had many times apologized for) the fact that the both of you hadn't stayed in contact 'all this time' despite being so close. You were pretty sure that it had to have been during your years in Signal Academy. You had ended up moving before you could finished there and attended Sanctum Academy in Mistral before graduating to Haven, but...you hadn't really gotten close to anybody in Sanctum. Signal, though... there had been a few. None by the name of Bartholomew Oobleck, but he had to be in there somewhere and you just weren't remembering him.
"Oh, that's too bad," said Oobleck, shaking his head. "We had so much fun. But I was so much trouble back then! You got me on the straight and narrow, you know. I'm surprised youevenrecognizedme when you got here!"
Well... okay, that was a bit too on the nose.
"Really..." This was your chance. Maybe you could fix this. "Y'know, Barty, I have such a hard time remembering a lot of that... so, uh, why don't you tell me about it? I bet it'll jog a few memories if you, uh, tell me some stories."
It had better.
"I'd love to." And he looked like he honestly meant it. Which he probably did. If you had learned anything about Bartholomew so far, it was that he always had something to say, and he quite liked saying it. "Well, when we met, I was... well, you know, beingfoolishandtryingtogetaway with smoking outside the dorms, as usual, and you caught me, and- yourememberwhatyousaid, don't you? That I was- that I was being stupid and that if I really just had to smoke, I should do it on the roof..."
What.
"And you ended up taking the cigarette away from me anyway," Oobleck continued, completely unaware that you were going into a state of shock. "And you would take my cigarette away every time you saw me after that, and I think I started smoking even more just to get you to talk to me..."
You remembered this. You remembered all of this. But that boy with the reeking cigarettes and the silver studs in his ears had not been Bartholomew Oobleck.
"I thought quitting smoking would be worse than it was but youweresohappy when I did that I didn't care and you touched me more often when I didn't smell like smoke, so that was probablythebestdecision I ever made..."
That boy's name had been Blecky, or so everybody said. He had been an extremely talented problem child who just needed some attention for something other than his combat skills, hence his rebellious attitude... He had just wanted somebody to notice him instead of his fighting prowess, and you did...
"And you took me to the Vytal Festival less than a week later and you said it was a reward for quitting and I was so happy to be going with you that I didn't care why..."
That boy had been your best friend for all your time at Signal. And he had been so much more than that.
"But I'm sure you remember that one time weweresetuptosparagainsteachother and it went on for over an hour because neither of us couldwinbecausewekneweachother'smovestoowellandMr.Azurelookedlivid, I think he thought we were cheating..."
Holy Oum.
You should have known, you should have immediately known, he was so... him.
Oobleck. Blecky. Duh.
Bartholomew Oobleck was Blecky. Blecky, that one punk with the spiked up green hair who had been stupid enough to smoke within sight of Mr. Azure's office. Blecky, with the pierced ears and the eyeliner and the threadbare shirts. Blecky, who had never actually said his full name to you and fully expected you and even the teachers to call him Blecky (you did, they did, everybody did, holy Oum).
Blecky... who had held your hand and given you your first kiss when you cried about having to move to Mistral.
"Blecky," you whispered. It was real. It was very real and you didn't know what to do.
Oobleck lit up like a caffeinated Christmas tree.
"Oh!" he exclaimed. "I haven't heard that in years! I was wondering if you'd say it."
"Blecky." You felt your eyes sting with tears as the full impact of this discovery made itself known to you.
This man was that boy you were in love with. Bartholomew was the one.
"You kissed me," you said, almost accusingly. "The day before I had to leave, you kissed me."
"I..." Dr. Oobleck, Barty, Blecky, blushed pink across his cheeks and looked down bashfully at his mismatched shoes. You could see his ears turning red the same way they did when you had scolded him for smoking all those years ago. "Well, yes." And then he blinked rapidly, looking back up at you with something akin to horror. "You didn't- you didn't forget that, did you?"
"No, I didn't forget my first kiss, I just didn't... I didn't think about..." You sighed. How were you supposed to say this? "I didn't think about it being you. You're really... really different, Blecky."
Because Blecky never drank coffee, and he never zipped around like a hummingbird, and he never showed the slightest interest in history, and he wouldn't have been caught dead wearing a tie, much less a bright yellow one, and yet-
"Well..." Bartholomew ducked his head down sheepishly, offering you a small smile. "I became a person I thought you would be proud of."
"Are you proud of me?" he had asked you the day you took him to the festival. It had been said in such a mocking way, like he thought you were silly for caring, but you did care and you knew that he cared too, no matter how he acted.
Now, he was obviously... more open about such things.
"I was always proud of you," you admitted.
The thing was that you were too old to still have a crush on a fifteen-year-old boy, first kiss or no. But that boy wasn't fifteen anymore. He was a grown man, and he was your best friend, and he was sort of... perfect.
Oh no.
Feelings coming along the portside bow, abort mission.
"Well, silly boys make mistakes," you said, as if you were graciously giving him an out to escape the blame of what his teenage self did. "Like kissing your best friend. But it did make me feel better!"
And at that moment, you immediately realized that you had said the wrong thing, because you could see Oobleck's expression break.
"That wasn’t a mistake," he exclaimed, the hurt in his voice making the words waver and strain. "That was me, hoping you would notice we fit.”
"We were fifteen," you argued.
But you really didn't want to argue.
"What does that have to do with it?" he asked, sounding as incredulous as he looked, and he rather looked like an offended, heartbroken owl.
You shrugged so harshly that it hurt your shoulders. "I don't know, I just... You don't... It was a long time ago! And we never talked about it! We never talked again! And you're completely different, we've both changed, and nobody would I expect you- I can't actually ask you to..."
"To what?" he asked. He reached out and took your hand in his. You let him. "To wait? Because we were young, I should have forgotten? Don't be foolish. I could never forget, and I have waited all these years because I knew you were worth waiting for, and I had faith that you would find your way back to me. And you did."
He pulled you closer. Almost too close. And you could see the smallest tremble in his frame.
"We were fifteen," you said, just reminding him, just giving him the chance to blame it on teenage stupidity and walk away, but-
He gently pulled your hand up to his mouth and kissed your palm.
“Now class I thought we should shake things up a little and instead of learning of Grimm we would learn about past hunters!” Oobleck jumped before rushing to the board in an almost blur as he took a sip of his coffee.
Jaune had stopped listing not long after that, he just rested his head in his hand, as the green haired man went off on his antics, seeming over confident and excited. He had to hand it to him, although he was strange at times – most of the time – all of the time. He was passionate about his work.
Just before Jaune was about to fall asleep he heard on knock on the classroom door and everyone looked towards it (such an odd habit of students but they never failed to see who dared entered their classroom), after Oobleck told them they could enter while he was still writing on the board at an unbelievable speed.
“Sorry to interrupt your class,” said a the teacher walking in, Jaune had seen them once or twice, you were the combat teacher, “But I need to grab some things.”
“Oh! (Your name)!” Oobleck jumped at the sight of you.
That’s it! (Your name)! There were rumors amongst the students that Oobleck had a crush on you, Jaune never saw the evidence to this but he believed it, you were a quirky person that was extremely likeable, he wouldn’t have been shocked if other teachers had a crush on them to.
“Yeah,” you smiled, “I just need some weapons, thinking of having my students learn to use other weapons outside of their own.”
“Oh great idea! Smart plan! I’ll uh – I’ll get them for you,” he started, tripping on his chair to grab the keys to his storage. Jaune giggled to himself along with a couple of students.
“Oh no I don’t want to disturb your lesson, I’ll get them,” you smiled, and made your way over to grab the keys from him.
He froze from the slight touch your hands made and he stuttered slightly< “Y-yes sure, uh, so c-class continuing on from where we left off, hunters and huntresses have been around for many, many, many years and uh- make sure you're all taking notes!”
Jaune held in his chuckle, when he looked around the classroom he saw other students giggling to themselves as they watched Oobleck stutter and fumble over his words. He never knew how obvious a man could act but Oobleck had demonstrated just that.
The entire class watched as you made your way out with a bag of weapons, “By the way, Oobleck, I’ll be needed a partner for dueling demonstrations, and I thought you would like to help.”
“Me? Uh yes, of course! I will see you then!” he fumbled over his rushed words.
Jaune felt Nora nudge his arm, “I think its more than just dueling practice,” she winked.
