Those that judge...... What’s worse, the people who are close to you, family and friends, judging you, or the internal voice of your own self doubt and missed opportunities? Hhhhhhmmmmmmmm………. Juicey one, right?! I have experienced all of the above. I have been judged (of course you have I hear you cry! Your life is on social media?!), I have judged (which was a reflection of my current situation and a sense of lacking), but most damaging for me is the self judgement that I have sat with on a daily basis. It was never enough, never good enough, never right, what was I doing wrong?……. If someone had spoken to me the way I was speaking to myself I probably would have been in a right sorry state and on antidepressants! Can you imagine that constant abuse every single day? And yet we do it to ourselves unconcsiously as if its the norm. Why? Because of the brains function towards the Negativity Bias (great article and easy to understand blog on this http://sequencewiz.org/2017/04/12/negativity-bias/). An evolutionary quality of our brain, the Negativity Bias gets us to err on the side of caution with everything which has lead to our brains turning on ourselves. Way to go brain! I honestly wonder how we’ve survived this long?….. Living in a tight knit community at @budokonuniversity ; sleeping together, training together, eating together, sharing our most intimate thoughts and pushing ourselves beyond what we thought possible, you begin to see how your judgement creates your own cage of limiting experience. How emotions, of the very small, can create such drama, and how that drama can seriously effect the people around you. The people you care about. When you look at it like that, it looks like a right shitty experience doesn’t it? Why would you want to limit yourself and hurt those around you? Is there a solution? BELIEF - hhhhhmmmm, we've all got a few of those right?! So what's "wrong" with my floating frog, kindly filmed by my fellow Budokon brother? Strength, alignment, flexibility? What do your eyes see that's holding me back? There is absolutely nothing wrong with this situation other than believing I can and trusting myself to lean forward more. Because my belief is currently telling me I can't, that if I jump too far I'll break my face, that I just can't do it...... Ooohhhh change the bloody mental record, right? Thank you to the wonderful group that made Moving the E-Motions workshop so beautiful. An afternoon of feeling the body by pushing through charges that felt light lightning bolts, learning to reflect to create understanding and connecting and sharing to lighten the load. YOGA FOR THROAT CHAKRA, HARMONY & HEALTH - Wednesday @ 7pm #Visuddha was the intention for August, but after experiencing its depth and complexity @kripalucenter during #anodeajudith #psychology of #chakras I feel the need to explore in a different direction. We will be toning the body, mind, voice and breath for a deeper connection. Meditation will lead us into its story and our movement will strengthen its resolve and release the defences we created in the past that no longer serve us. Our throat chakra represents our creativity, it's how we resonate with ourselves (can you listen to what you REALLY want, or do you follow the path of what is expected of you?), and when balanced allows us to listen clearly (do you already know what's coming in a conversation and finish the sentence?). I've come to understand just how powerful movement and sound are, and when you cut off one from the other, how physical and mental tension arise. If at first it doesn't feel right, keep on adjusting your practice until it does! When @gladreynolds and I first did this, it was without a belt and it felt rank. No other words for it. Because our structures and functionality didn't suit the arms squeezing together behind he back, we ended up closing of the chest, and therefore breath, creating tension in movement. Add the belts and our movement became more expressive, which is what yoga is all about, right? The sounds we both expressed were just stuck gunk on the chest, throat, shoulders and arms. Armour, protection and defences not necessarily needed. My little shake of the head was the final act of release. How do you release during your yoga practice? Are you aware of the charge that starts to build within?
