Question is, when they live on Tatooine together, do they raise little handmaidens and padawans?? But like.. by the time Luke comes along to visit their all grown?

It’s miserable.

You’re both miserable.

The first month is spent traveling back and forth to the nearest outpost, gathering the much needed parts to build some sort of a life in the crumbling cave-home you two had settled into.

Tatooine is discouraging — it’s hot and horrible and every night, you’re startled awake by the far-cry of a Tusken raiding party shrieking beneath the moonlight. Obi-Wan spends most of his days sweating over a broken-down moisture harvester as you try your best to make the small homestead feel like a real home.

It’s not how you pictured your life to be. It’s not how you pictured your life with Obi-Wan to be. You’d wanted a small home in the lake country. There was room to grow there and warm summers — not like the unbearable heat of the place you now call home.

You and him don’t speak of the loss you’ve suffered until two months in.

The sun is setting and with a horrible cough, the central air ventilator — the only thing that ever brings reprieve in this heat — gives out while Obi-Wan is out checking on the Lars’ and Luke.

He comes back to find you in a heap on the floor, tears running down your face. It boils over, then, and you weep into his robes as he mutters an apology into your hair — he too cracks, if only for a moment, and weaves his shaking hands into yours.

(He’d lost everything. His master, his brother, his Order, his home... and still, Obi-Wan pushed it far away — because he still had you.)

You promise him, then, to make it work.

We have to, he’d muttered, and I am sorry for that.

Children are brought up over dinner with Owen and his now wife, Beru. They’re a sweet couple. Luke babbles over a plate of mashed sweet fruits as you smile, offering a spoonful to the bright-eyed infant. Obi-Wan watches happily — the sight stirs hope in his heart. Owen sees it.

“Would you two ever...?”

Beru smiles. “I think you’d make good parents.”

Obi-Wan squeezes your hand gently on the table, making you laugh a bit. His reaction is guarded as he forks his dinner around and drops his gaze.

“Someday,” you mutter, swiping a thumb over Luke’s cheek, “What do you think?”

He doesn’t bother hiding the warmest smile he’s mustered in ages.

The promise of a future, together, makes Tatooine not so miserable.

and the first time carlos uses one he expects a laugh out of cecil, maybe even an exasperated huff like when he does his impressions— but he goes all quiet, and carlos who is like, working with chemicals or driving or just Busy, looks up from what he’s doing and cecil is BRIGHT RED and fidgeting and goes—

“you— you can’t just SAY that to me we are in PUBLIC CARLOS.”

so of course carlos starts doing it ALL THE TIME and it never fails to make cecil swoon and blush and twirl is hair like a school girl
