Dark SBI where elytrian Philza does this to avian Techno, but since Tommy just hatched his instincts get confused and he starts treating the wounded Techno like a chick :)
Techno is nearly an adult but his species is like. A fourth the size of an elytrian. Can’t fly away cause of the shredded wings, can’t climb bc Philza broke his leg. But Philza keeps bringing him just enough prey to barely survive (chick sized diet), and eventually is like oh! This isn’t my nest! And brings him to roost with a baby Tommy who is already Techno sized and getting worryingly bigger and closer to leaving the nest. At which point…Techno won’t have paternal instincts to protect him from the predatory elytrian.
Only Philza decides he really likes being a dad and isn’t ready to stop now that Tommy is starting to learn to fly. And, of course, it is a learned behavior. So Philza teaches Tommy exactly how to shred an avian’s wings so they’re defenseless and utterly reliant on you :) problem solved :) :)
