I have seen some people complain how the OPLA writers omitted that everyone was watching over Nami when she was sick because of Sanji's line and, I have to admit, I was sorta thinking similar too (I think I do have a 'sheep mentality' or whatever you wanna call it)...

Until you remember Sora. Plus, the fact that in OPLA (thanks to the power of foresight), Sanji shares his experience about his mother.

So, it kinda makes sense for Sanji to be the one who had the most time watching over Nami. He's scared. He's worried.

Not to mention that he obviously has experience with caretaking. At least compared to the others. If I had to pick, it would be Sanji.

That isn't to say that the others didn't watch over her. Realistically, Sanji wasn't there 'the whole time' for those four days. I'd wager that there were moments Sanji had to leave the room to cook, but not before making sure someone is there with Nami. Hell, the others probably had to force him out so he could sleep and they take turns keeping watch.

Plus...it's possible the others...don't feel comfortable seeing Nami (someone strong and independent) so sick and weak...

Like Usopp. His mom died to illness too...

It's not that no one cares...

They care so much that they are scared and aren't sure what to do.

OPLA was great! I love it very much! I don’t have a ton of complaints, as you can only adapt so much from an animanga this big buuut there are some things I hope they work in.

I want to see Nami smacking the shit out of her dumb little family. It doesn’t have to be as hard as in the anime but just a bit of violence from her PLEASE.

I haven’t really seen anyone else complain about this, and it’s not a huge deal that she hasn’t yet but I love that detail about her personally.

As someone who relates heavily to Nami, I want this very bad. I too want to run and hide, want to believe I can do everything on my own, want to see my dreams and those around me’s dreams come true.

And I want/ do smack the fuck out of my stupid little brothers.

I want violence. This lovey little family the Straw Hats are in the live action is so sweet and I love it, but let my woman put those little idiots in their place PLEASE.

As I saw another post say recently regarding Zoro and Sanji, WHERE IS MY DOMESTIC VIOLENCE

Does anyone agree, or is this just me?

I finished OPLA and here are my thoughts.

There will be a time and place for criticism, but now is not that time. Now is a time for celebration. Of the greatest Live Action anime adaption to be created.

There’s gonna be very light spoilers in this, so read on if you’d like.

I think my favorite part of it all is that you can tell just how much care went into this show. This production team was truly made by fans, for fans. The little nods towards things in the future really made me keep my eyes peeled and had me freaking out over the littlest moments. Things like Binks no Sake playing in the bar, and Nami reading Nolan the Liar were my favorite. I’m sure there were hundreds of other moments, but those were the two that had my feet kicking and giggling like a maniac.

Am i blinded by biasness and clouded with my love for One Piece? Yes. I’m aware of that. But I went into this show knowing it was a new, different adventure than the one I was familiar with. It’s not perfect to the manga, and they’ve said from the beginning it wouldn’t be. I think that’s the hardest part for people: not understanding why “pointless” changes were made (there were only two changes that kind of bothered me, but we can talk about those later). Most of the changes that occurred still felt fluid and natural, giving a lot more screen time to beloved characters who we normally don’t see for hundreds of chapters. I liked that aspect. Not everyone will. But keep an open mind.

Just like when I watched the anime, I found myself smiling and laughing the whole time. Joyboy is still very alive and apparent in this live action. As an anime and manga fan, i loved this new aspect of their journey and this new medium to watch. It kept me intrigued, surprised, and so invested in my crew. Just like when I watched the anime, I had a very difficult time picking who was my “favorite”, because they’re all so enjoyable and quirky in their own way.

Are there things to improve? Absolutely. There always is. All I can hope is that it gets enough love and attention that Netflix will renew it for a season 2, and we’ll all get to explore the Grand Line and Alabasta together.

If you’re on the fence, or didn’t like the first episode and decided to drop it, I implore you to keep going. I think it gets better by the episode. And so much happens, I was never really bored. Please watch it, even if you just have it on in the background. This show is so special to so many people, and the next season cant get better if we don’t give it the chance.

Thoughts on live action one piece episode 1:

1. Loving it so far.

2. They played binks brew!

3. Love that zoro is the one to give helmeppo that terrible haircut

4. The high up marines wear their jackets with the sleeves off just like in the manga and anime and I’m here for it

5. So far they’ve done a good job of condensing the plot without taking away from the overall story

I can't help but think about Cabaji saying that Zoro chased him and his brother all across the Goa Kingdom.

Like- yeah sure Goa may have just been a name drop for people Who Know

But now my brain is coming up with silly theories like "Bluejam was Cabaji's brother"

So! I'm pretty sure everyone knows by now that the One Piece Live action has been renewed for a second season! 👒✨I am beyond stoked but also completely terrified. 🫠

Among the things that I am most hoping for I've also had an idea of how they could handle the whole Sabo situation a bit better. I'll share my thoughts below! Feel free to tell me what you think!

My idea is to introduce Sabo in Loguetown. Yes, this is pretty early on and we haven't even met Ace yet ,but hear me out.

We all know of the famous manga panel of Luffy's execution in Loguetown where you could see someone that looks very much like Sabo in the crowd.

My idea is to have Sabo have some sort of interaction with Luffy in Loguetown. It doesn't need to be direct. Maybe he is accompanying Dragon on a mission,sees Luffy's execution, sees his wanted poster, finds it interesting and decides to keep it. Later down the line it could be brought back and be framed as something that helped Sabo get his memory back. Like it tickled something in his brain and he decided to chase after it. Maybe later he could see Ace's poster (or even Ace himself in Alabasta) and decide to keep his too. Same effect. This could also very easily develop into a B plot at some point in the show. Sabo's quest for his missing memories would be something I'd be down to see.

Or you could just have Buggy run into Sabo somehow, which would also indirectly connect him to Luffy.

I feel that the story overall could benefit from introducing Sabo sooner. It could further strengthen the Brotherhood plotline and plant the idea of there being a revolutionary army in One Piece in the viewers mind. Having Dragon there along with him will be even better!

But yeah. That's me!

yknow now that i’ve seen most of what the first season of OPLA covers in the anime & manga (minus the Garp stuff which comes later in the animanga timeline), i think i can have an informed opinion on the changes it made. so i’m gonna talk abt my thoughts in various reblogs of this post bc i just have a bunch of thoughts that aren’t all connected.

I just got done ready this article regarding the OPLA production team approaching Oda about if the One Piece world has electricity and...Idk, Oda's response to the question was funny to me.

Like, the question actually made him pause and be like "I hadn't really thought about that" before giving the okay.

The fact this was glossed over in the 20+ years of him writing One Piece and Oda hadn't really considered the common power source for most of the world (as the Grand Line islands have their own unique energy supply, when you think about it), especially when there seems to be obvious moments that a location should be using electricity instead of candlelight..

Cola energy would definitely be still a unique thing for very obvious reasons. Like, hello, powered by carbonation?

Does it really matter? Not really. One Piece is a fantasy focused on adventure.

Still cool to learn. I love me some behind the scenes lore ^^
