Having all my Sagittarius placements (including major asteroids - at least the ones that seem more influential from my point of view) in opposition to Jupiter does contain an interesting dose of irony.
Irony - and a "Jesus Christ" every time I see it and remember that the expansion and, well, with all sincerity, blunt and obnoxious self-righteousness have a great amplification.
It reminds me of an angry, authoritarian and stubborn Zeus, walking around, frowning and shouting, saying slightly prophetic things but ruining it all by not listening to common sense or having any tolerance at all.

this blog discusses what major aspects between these two planets can mean!
CONJUNCTION: if the sun and the moon are in the same sign, that sign will be very dominant in a person’s energy. depending on the sign, this can make a person very chill or full of energy lol. sometimes it can make a person be very sure about their needs and wants! people with this conjunction may seem overly confident sometimes to other as they don’t appear to be insecure about themselves and can these people can be proud of themselves too.
OPPOSITION: now this can be very difficult for someone. it can make someone very usnure about their wants and needs and if this opposition is very strong this person can be very self-conflicted as their wants and needs constantly seem to be extremely different. depending on the signs, a person may not sure to act and respond sometimes based on their needs, respectively wants. these people could be barely pleased with themselves always, therefore are very insecure. :(
SQUARE: usually, a square means that the signs under two celestial bodies involved are in conflict. under the influence of this aspect, one has to work on the domains that the moon and sun presupose to bring out the best of them and their life. one has to put the other in light in the process! (may apply for the opposition too but here could be more intense sometimes). also, people with this aspect might be hot-tempered, regardless of the signs involved if the aspect is very strong.
TRINE: now this is an easier aspect to handle. a person with this aspect is most likely to know want in life. it doesn’t bring as much tension like the other aspects that were mentioned above do. i feel that if a person has a trine can handle everything much easier. also, i think that they may be chill people and the type of people that aren’t affected by everything around that easily. people with this aspect may be nice people too, but surely, depends on the sign.
SEXTILE: here the signs involved balance each other out so beautifully i think. unlike the case of a square, there is not a constant fight between the signs that are under the sun and moon, actually, one usually effortlessly works out to brings the most in the other one. when the latter happens in an efficient way, an individual with this aspect may enjoy their time more than ever, because a balanced out life can mean a lot these people… a bit random but i think these ppl could be chaotic good too lol.
A/N: i’m trying to get back into wrtiting for his blog and today i had this idea, ig it’s a good way to start :p anway, i hope this blog is helpful! if you don’t relate, it could be due to your sun and moon not aspecting each other very strongly. also, these are some general things, i may detail them in future blogs. also pls excuse any typos
Relationships - Understanding Charts: Lesson Two (Sun) Pt. 4
My apologies for missing yesterday, but I've got Jupiter for you today so strap in!
if you want access to the full content, I have the post fully available on my website!
In our continuation of this series we have Relationships - Understanding Charts: Lesson Two (Sun). The first part in reading charts.
Conjunction - 0° ~ 7°
Take the largest planet in the solar system, and then pair it with arguably one of the most important. When you have a Jupiter and Sun conjunction you are going to find someone who has a larger than life personality (especially if they're in Leo). You're going to find someone who has no issues channeling their desires and inner wants and figuring out how to expand them. They might be incredibly philosophical, and endearing when it comes to having in-depth conversations about their passions.
Opposition - 180° ~ 6°
You tend to spend a lot don't you? Falling into ruts of "well I deserve a treat-". This can be a challenging aspect in the way that you may have an over-inflated sense of self worth and desire to please yourself. Your desires aren't lining up with the growth that you need to undertake. You may feel as though you've been dealt a bad hand and can't catch a break. But as all things tnd to do- eventually we end up figuring this out. Looking at the signs in this position can help point you in the direction for where you are trying to grow, and then where your desires lay. If this is figured out you can try to find a path to peace, and it can help bolster that luck and growth.
Trine - 120° ~ 5°
You ever feel like you pass through life with like, nothing going wrong? You may have this aspect. There's a lack of feeling the struggles of life- or even the necessity to grow. Because- it's already been handed to you and you're just that lucky. It's as if there's someone looking down on you giving you a big thumbs up and saying "Ok!" whenever you figure out there's something you need. While this is overall a very good aspect to have, you also need to pay attention to where that jupiter is- so that way you can expand that growth and fall into more than you need. Try to grow instead of letting it happen passively.
Square- 90° ~ 4°
This is an interesting one. Not because you're unlucky. More or less because you do have some good fortune. Things work out- but not in the ways one would really expect. Take it this way- a square follows into our quadruplicities meaning we have some shared traits with the sign we're squaring off against. So really- if you are finding that your luck isn't super favorable or you want more, all you have to do is lay the groundwork to achieve it. If you want the success that Jupiter offers- you need to work for it.
Sextile- 60° ~ 3°
With this type of aspect in your chart you may be more predisposed to following the rules. Having an internal compass towards fairness and what's right. This is what ends up following your path towards growth and fortune. Your desires are easily understood by Jupiter and the path to growth flows easily. It might not be as forthcoming as a trine, but you carry a similar air of self-importance, and things seem to come more easily for you.
That's what we have for today, stay tuned in for the next post coming up tomorrow covering the Sun aspecting Saturn!
Stay groovy, and I'll catch you on the flip,

Each planet is a single ‘aspect’ of us representing the positions of consciousness we take during our day to day life. When a chart makes plenty of aspects, the individual has a very active, alert, and dynamic inner world with plenty of interests and frayed stimulus. When a chart is lacking in aspects, the personality is quite complex, dualistic, and frayed in different active zones that don’t communicate, or do vaguely so with one another.
The aspect operates at optimum capacity when 2 planets contact the exact degree point (such as Moon 16° in Leo conjunct Jupiter 16° in Leo) and continue to weaken with separation
↔️ Conjunct: Too close for comfort
0 degrees away
(5-10 degree separation orb)
Partnership that is stimulated, highly energetic, building inside like a bursting, burning star. At their best they unify with great rising force and compete with their best qualities to outshine one another’s potential. Both planets can try to overpower the other, forced into compromise and agitated by close confines. It can be the classic case of being spoilt with talent. the energy inside begins to swell and it can feel like a fireball is churning inside like a pit of relentless energy, panic, or nervous excess
A mutual agreement to have a light and agreeable meeting and maintain a good flowing contact, non intrusive, congenial, and unimposing. The desire is to work at the pace that keeps both comfortable but their ease of content can make for a very inactive and unstimulated pair
A battle of domination, one planet becomes highly active, overstimulated, and dominates the pair. Then, the power shifts to its opponent, it can feel like a see-saw of cement has been madly swung into another side of their body and mind inside, it can be difficult for these planets to settle and collaborate calmly and without fanaticism
📐 Trine - For Business or Pleasure?
120 degrees (4-8 degree separation orb)
2 planets that are stimulated, excited, and regenerated by joining forces, coming together with grand ideal plans, and activating out the harmonic and peak qualities of one another. Sometimes they can become so relaxed and comfortable in company, the sense of having already achieved, dreaming instead of doing and letting themselves get away with doing nothing
🔄 Opposition - A Mirror Face Off
180 degrees (5-10 degree separation orb)
An opportunity to maximise the potential of both planetary and archetypal qualities but the work and internal pressure is not easy. There is entrenched finesse and talent, but both planets can battle it out to eclipse and reign supreme. The very essence of this activity is the resulting hard work and discipline by the individual that advances natural talent with skill, regimen, and passion. the contract for collaboration requires intense negotiation, compromise, and the integration of polar energies to create a single, divine force, the highest potential in each planet is only accessible through the other. Once established, the nature of this union is to lose and regain contact, separated by the frustration of opposing desires and reattach by the magnet force of underlying desire to connect with the other half of its inherent essence
Neptune Opposite Pluto: Creativity, intuition, and belief in oneself, especially obtaining dreams becomes an issue. This is mostly due to an inner negativity. Spirituality can also feel dark or destructive somehow. Illusions and mysteries are themes. One could become distracted by darker emotions.
Neptune Opposite Ascendant: Intuition can be closer to the surface but Neptune could hide certain energies in the ascendant. This aspect indicates interest in spirituality and arts. Sometimes this aspect can indicate problems with disillusionment in life, especially with a partner.
Neptune Opposite Midheaven: This position can make someone highly sensitive but also intuitive in the workplace. They are perceptive towards coworkers and can read between the lines when changes are made. There is the threat of illusions and random times of vulnerability at work. People with this aspect can easily be disillusioned by a coworker, can feel bad for someone and be taken advantage of, and sometimes can’t deal with the stresses that come with their position.
Neptune Opposite North Node: This person can have a hard time facing reality when it comes to life lessons or situations that involve growth. Illusions get in the way of the nodes progression. Spirituality can be closely tied to their growth.
Neptune Opposite Chiron: Healing ins't intuitive for this person. Addiction and taking on others pain can also happen here. Wounds may be connected to family karma, spirituality, secret fears, lack of boundaries, deception, guilt, shame, and confusion.
Neptune Opposite Juno: Hopeless romantic that is easily blinded by love. Here is someone who struggles with sacrifice and lack of boundaries. This person can also have an idea in their head about their spouse that isn't really true.
Neptune Opposite Ceres: This is someone who can be overly sensitive towards those they care for. They are receptive and have great powers of healing but sacrifice and lack of boundaries are seen here just like other aspects. This person can also easily feel used or taken advantage of. If that is true or not isn't completely dependent on this aspect. Guilt and shame are themes when they care for others. This person can easily be guilt tripped into things. Relationships could even be based on pity.
Neptune Opposite Vesta: One's spirituality or intuition is a point of stress somehow. Working through this and paying attention to problem areas involving the subconscious, spiritual self, and beliefs is going to be helpful for mental and emotional well being.
Neptune Opposite Pallas: Like the square, balancing intellect and intuition is hard for this individual. Creativity and imagination is a power house that this person may struggle to tap into. This person can have an affinity for comforting and healing others, but is unaware of this.
Neptune Opposite Lilith: Themes of Neptune like addiction, illusions, lack of boundaries, and guilt can trigger Lilith or are highly involved with Lilith. Empowerment comes from clarity, grounding, forgiveness, and accountability.
Hello, hello, and welcome to the first expert level article. Aspects are not an easy thing to understand. They can be messy and confusing. There's math involved (to a minor degree, but still). It's one of those things that needs to be understood if you are reading your own chart. To understand as a whole to get the full picture. So here we go Aspects - Understanding Charts.
Now- let me show you a chart.
Maybe you've seen this before- a birth chart (also called a natal chart). There's A LOT, going on here- so let's break it down.
On the outer ring, you can see the familiar symbols of the Zodiac. Featured there's Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, Virgo, and Leo. Breaking it down further you can also see the symbols for planets, asteroids, and placements like the ascendant or midheaven. (We're gonna slip past those numbers floating in the middle ring for now). Finally on the inner ring, there are more numbers related to the houses.
I haven't written all of this yet, but it is in the works. Breaking down the symbols, and houses- this will be on the novice level on my site (if you need a refresher). I do not have those written yet- but when I do. You'll be some of the first to know.
Now- let's get into those numbers in the middle ring, shall we?
Aspects - Understanding Charts: Degrees
So in understanding aspects - understanding charts begins with the degrees that you find them in. Each section of the outer wheel has 30 degrees going through it and that's the number you see next to the planetary symbols. For example in the upper right of the chart, we can see the sun is in Leo at 22 degrees. Then in the lower left photo we can see that the moon is in Sagittarius at 14 degrees. Those are the distances for which that specific planet was moving through the sign at the moment you were born. This in and of itself can fully shake up a birth chart when you start looking at applying and separating aspects. (We'll get into this more next time).
Degrees are important in that they help us learn and figure out different aspects within the birth chart- this particular aspect between the sun and moon is a trine.
You might not know what that is yet, but that's why I'm here, and I promise- I'll get into it.
Degrees help shape the chart in three ways: aspects, energy (applying vs. separating), and degree theory (I may write a post on this later on, but overall I will not be discussing it at length in this lesson series).
What are Aspects?
An aspect is the relationship between the planets and how they interact with one another in a chart. For me I like to think about it as a big family dinner. You have your family (which can be positive or negative), your close friends (good support buddies), someone you can't tolerate being alone with (friction and difficultness), and some like extended relatives that you're good with (can carry on a conversation), and finally extended family members you don't get along with (challenging to talk to).
Each of these family members are played by a planet, their relationship is dictated by the aspect, and how good or bad it is, is directed by the energy. Finally you have their personal quirks and whats bouncing off of each other being dictated by signs and houses.
This is why it's so important to understand each of these tiny little things. They are all interacting with each other (kinda), all the time.
That's why a person with a Capricorn sun might not feel so much like a Capricorn if they have an aspect with their moon - helping them through their emotions and walking them through their feelings in the fifth and eight houses. It's complicated, and messy- and that's just life.
So let's start with the first of the last steps to fully understand your birth chart- the aspects themselves.
Aspect Pre-Summary
I will be focusing on five major aspects.
Conjunction (0°)
Opposition (180°)
Trine (120°)
Square (90°)
Sextile (60°)
These are the relationships that I was talking about.
Quick summary based on my analogy- before we get into the nitty gritty and further explanations.
Conjunction is your family. This can be a positive or negative aspect. It all depends on the planets interacting.
Opposition is the person you can't really tolerate. There tends to be a lot of conflict in this aspect.
Trine is your close buddies you're working in harmony here. You might spend most of the night talking to them.
Square is the extended family you can't really talk with. The conversation here is difficult. Speaking with them creates frustration.
Sextile is the extended family you can chat with, and have a decent conversation. They're here to remind you that it's all good.
With reading a chart sometimes it can be difficult to tell if something is an aspect or not. That's where the degrees come in. The closer the planets are together- the stronger the aspect. However, an aspect only applies when it is (typically) 8°. For larger planets (like the sun and moon) some astrologers move this to 13°.
For example let's take this chart in to question again.
The Leo sun has a trine aspect with the moon in Sagittarius. That's a 120° angle between the two signs. If you count there is 111 spokes on the wheel in-between the two giving an 9° difference within our 13° error zone for aspects on larger planets. It's a pretty good aspect here, and can be felt by the imaginary individual in question.
However, what's the point in knowing the aspects- if you don't know what they fully are? So let's get into it shall we?
The Aspects
Conjunction- 0°
A conjunction takes place when two signs are right on top of one another. This creates a type of synastry. Both planets are (typically) within the same sign (for planets where one is 29° in Aries and the other is at 0° to 1° in Taurus they still carry synastry- more on this next time). Depending on the planets it can be a positive or negative aspect. For example, Venus- the planet of soft love and the feminine side of relationship would synergize positively with the moon. This creates harmony between the two as the moon helps to express inner emotions . Meanwhile having a planet like Mars conjunct with Neptune would be considered a negative aspect. This is due to the dreamy qualities of Neptune aggro-ing the Mars passion and drive.
Opposition- 180°
The opposition aspect is considered neutral, but it is more often than not a very harsh aspect. These two signs are usually at odds, because they have fundamentally different energies. If the planet is in Aries and they have an opposition with a planet in Libra- you are going to be looking at someone who could be struggling with the identity of "we" vs. "I". Especially if those planets are Mars and Venus respectively (traditional planetary rulers), you are going to be looking at a lot of conflict in your relationships, with a severe need for communication. HOWEVER, where this can be a more neutral aspect is if you take it as an area of growth. These can synergize in a passionate, loving, and driven relationship- one for the ages. It all depends where you are at in your life, and how willing you are for change.
Trine- 120°
Trine's are considered harmonious aspects. This is because it usually takes place within a grand trine of an element. Meaning that the communication between the planets flows freely, and things come to them naturally. It signals for having innate talent (that often the person is unaware of, until pointed out). For example let's continue with the Aries theme here. If Aries Sun is trine with a Leo ascendant- this person is easily bold, and driven, with a charisma that seems to charm people. They are a natural born leader and can easily sway the tide of a conversation. Their inner persona seems to be exemplified and led by the Leo ascendant walking together hand and hand. Things flow here naturally and easily.
Square- 90°
Our last actual challenging aspect. The Square. Things are not simple when it comes between planets in a square at the angle of 90°, these signs are typically found within the same quadruplicity of modality. Fixed, Cardinal, and Mutable. These energies synergize off one another, very similarly to the opposition. For example, take an Aries sun squared off with a Capricorn Mars. What you will see here is the flighty drive of the sun wanting to accomplish tasks one right after the other. Whereas the Capricorn Mars interacting with it tells the Aries sun to slow down- that everything will come in it's own time. Creating a headache between the drive to accomplish something, and then the passion regarding to want to pursue it. Squares are important to recognize so that you can get the full picture, and try to overcome the obstacle.
Sextile- 60°
Just like Trines these are harmonious aspects. There's innate talent and an easy flow of communication between planets falling in a sextile- however, it is much more subtle a difference than it is with Trines. It's not a super close relationship, but they get along well. Making planets that are found here's goal's way more attainable. Let's keep it up with our Aries Sun and a Trine with Aquarius moon. This is harmonic in that the thoughts and feelings of Aquarius help to bring innovation in to the Aries' sun drive for passion. Creating a subtle harmony that allows that network of personality flow- and hopefully create something great.
Wrap Up: Aspects - Understanding Charts
As I said there's a lot that goes into understanding your natal chart, and the aspect is just one flow of it. So if you have your birth chart pulled (or someone else's) take a look through and see if you can find different aspects without the lines that are added in. Find key planets, and see what type of relationships they may have with one another- and what that might mean for you!
In the meantime, keep an eye out for the next lesson, Relationships - Understanding Charts: Lesson Two.
