lowkey always think its funnydumb how omegaverse fics will have characters go into heat every month or so, like i know its way better for porn and angst if they Have to fuck often and also probably influenced by menstrual cycle timings maybe? but obviously animals go into heat waaaay less often, but imagine trying to do one of those not-actually-unrequited-love fics but they only fuck moodily once a year. talk about a slow burn.

its a good easy timeless vehicle for angst and all but guys i think we need to shelve the 'sanji has no self-worth and doesnt value his life and is self-sacrificial to the point of danger' schtik for at least a little while.

to me, that was the whole point of the BARATIE ARC let alone any arcs or moments that followed. his INTRODUCTION is when he finally internalises that not only does he have agency over his life, unbound to any saviours, but that he DESERVES it, he deserves to put value on his own wants and dreams, to live his life for himself. joining luffy was his proof of that. obviously its a process and a journey, but this insistence that all of his actions are driven from a place of self-loathing or low self-worth is kind of a mischaracterisation and also a bit of an insult to the core of one piece which is LOVE. he puts himself on the line for his crew because he loves and values them, and because someone has to. that's literally the role he shares with zoro, they function in tandem to protect the crew and sometimes that involves doing a seemingly suicidal mission.

and again, im not saying his own issues and traumas never impact his decision making, just that there's more nuance and that putting yourself in the line of fire for a person or a cause you believe isnt wholly a reflection of how much you value your own life.
