the thing about gendered honorifics is that i have never been bothered by someone calling me by the "wrong" one. but i just now realized that when students asked me because they wanted to "get it right," it was a form of respect. oh god that is so sweet. they used to complain about other teachers yelling at them for getting the teachers' honorifics "wrong." so by trying to get my honorific "right" they were trying to do right by me...oh.
