Cosplay progress update: In the interest of having a costume I can troop with that ISN’T a face character, I have decided to create an original Jedi costume. And because I can’t ever make things easy for myself, I have decided to make that Jedi Pantoran. Here, we see the results of my first makeup test. The tattoos are eventually going to have a stencil, which will make them a lot more symmetrical. I also need to figure out how to keep this paint from cracking a little bit around the eyes. The effects is pleasing to me overall, though, and will only get better with practice.
Construction on the rest of the costume is underway. I ordered a new purple lightsaber from Ultrasabers during their sale (shown in the photo), and have obtained food capsules, a smokey lavender wig, and belt pouches from Etsy and ebay. I also have all the fabrics I will use. The golden brown fabric will be used for a long undertunic with a full skirt, and the camel fabric (yes, I promise it is camel instead of yellow in person) will be used for the outer tunic. The periwinkle will be used for the obi and tabards. I might end up trimming the outer tunic in a dark brown from my stash, but I will decide that once overall construction is complete. Boots will be reused from my Depa costume, and one of the members of my SG temple will be showing me how to make Jedi belts after our next big show in a couple of weeks. If all goes well, I will submit this costume by early August, and will probably publicly debute it at Dragon*Con. Wish me luck on that front, folks!
