EPAGOMENAL DAYS, DAY 1: BIRTH OF WESIR

Dua Wesir (Osiris), Eldest son of Nut!

Today we celebrate your birthday! As with last year, I'm baking something for each god/goddess on Their birthday, and Wesir this year gets matcha cream whoopie pies!

If you'd like to make them yourself, I'm following this recipe (sans cocoa powder) for the cakes!

For the frosting inside, it's a simple mix of 2 sticks (16tbs) butter, 3 cups powdered sugar, one 7.5oz jar of marshmallow fluff, and 1.5tbs culinary matcha powder! Just cream the butter, sugar, and matcha, then add the fluff and beat til smooth! A tiny splash of milk can help if it seems too stiff!

If you can’t buy marshmallow fluff (as it is a regional item), you can try making your own OR just stick with regular buttercream (that being, the recipe I wrote out minus the fluff!) - please do NOT attempt to add melted marshmallows, as the heat of the melted marshmallows will melt the butter and thus ruin your filling!!

Alters to Osiris?

I feel like Osiris occupies too little space on my alter. But, at the same time, I grow plants for him, which seems like an alter in and of itself in some ways. Still, I was wondering, what sorts of things do all of you out there like to do for him on your alters?

EPAGOMENAL DAYS, DAY 1: BIRTHDAY OF WESIR

Dua Wesir (Osiris), Eldest Son, on this, the first Epagomenal Day! Today I celebrate you with an offering of matcha shortbread cookies!

For anyone who wants to try this themselves, the recipe I used is here! (Note: American measurements) It's a super simple, 3-ingredient recipe that I've used a few times, actually! The only changes to this recipe is that I also added 2 tbs of culinary-grade matcha powder and 1 tsp of vanilla extract.

The recipe made about 20 (18 pretty, plus the 2 scraggly end pieces). They’re quite delicate and break/shed crumbs, as you can see!

Once they were cool, I also dipped mine in matcha white chocolate, which is just gently melted white chocolate chips with the same culinary-grade matcha powder mixed in.
