Another Oswolf redraw!

As part of my animation course, I’m given prompts every week to respond to in any creative way. I always like to choose illustrations because that’s my favourite :D

The prompt for last week was ‘Light and Shadow’, so I took the opportunity to do another one of these!

I experimented with shading a little more this time, and I added more of a fur look. I wanted to see how it’d look if I kept it stylised, and I rather like it!

Also, this is from my favourite scene in The Batman 2022. Oz is so adorable in that scene, he’s so scared :3

I’m gonna do some screenshot redraws with Oswolf, and here’s my first one!

This was a lot of fun to do, and I can’t wait to do the others :D

I love Oswolf, such a perfect design for Reevesverse Oswald if I do say so myself. Had fun with the lighting on this, and trying to mimic the screenshot while still doing my own style of lighting.

Two posts in one day? Crazy.

Anyway, I just finished this, so I thought why not post it now? I love how this turned out! The shading was very fun to do (as usual), and it was fun figuring out the pose and perspective.

Reevesverse OzGus my beloveds. I love them both so much it’s insane. My silly guys <3 (I’m hyperfixating on Reevesverse again, they might be all I draw for a while now).

I struggled to get refs for the background since we don’t see too much of Oswald’s bedroom in The Penguin. I tried my best tho. Just ignore that his duvet is supposed to have a pattern on it, I couldn’t be bothered to attempt to draw that accurately 😔.

OzGus, OzGus, OzGus!! I fucking love OzGus!!!!!!!!!

I call this one ‘early morning affirmations’. Originally, I randomly got the idea, but while I was drawing it I came up with some context. Basically, Gus just woke up, and as he’s getting ready for the day, Oswald tells him to come over. Gus complies and Oswald affectionately smushes his face and gives him every compliment under the sun.

They’re so incredibly cute!!!! My boys!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I really enjoyed drawing this (I know I always say that. I love drawing). The lighting was so fun to do, and I liked using my textured brush again. I think shading has become my favourite part of the drawing process.

Rewatched The Batman recently, and this idea popped into my head.

Oswolf!!!! (And AardGus).

Reevesverse Oswald just gives me such wolf vibes, and here’s why:

I originally got this idea because Oswald in The Penguin looks like a kicked puppy in so many scenes, so I thought what if he was a puppy. But also a wolf suits him so well because he’s big and soft in the literal way while also being very dangerous. He’s literally a wolf in sheep’s clothing as he acts all sweet/charming and innocent to manipulate people and get his way. He’s very deceptive, and I just think this version of Oswald is such a wolf. Oh, and he always craves love/affection, especially in the familial sense (as seen with both his relationship with his Ma and his relationship with Victor) which makes me think of wolf packs and how they’re social/familial animals.

So yeah, he’s a wolf now.

Also, Gus is looking a little different because he’s not a metahuman in the Reevesverse. I think it makes more sense for him to be powerless, so he’s just a regular aardwolf without the desert horned lizard. And this version of Gus wears makeup sometimes (hence the eyelashes. He’s so pretty).
