Final bit of Artfight prep!
New aardwolf Gus ref, and an OzGus piece so their profiles can have matching icons. It’s been a while since I last drew them (as humans anyway). I’ve missed them

@dc-oc-week Day 4: Mission Gone Wrong
Penguin doesn’t look up as he hears someone enter his office. He assumes it’s Gus, it usually is.
But when the silence stretches on for far longer than usual, Oswald glances up to check. “Oh.” Oswald thinks as he lays his eyes on his loyal right-hand man, his partner, covered in blood. But it isn’t his blood. “Never his blood.” Oswald thinks.
Penguin knows he probably shouldn’t say anything, Gus looks pissed, but he can’t help himself, “Bloody ‘ell…Whadya do? Fucking gut ‘em?” His mouth snaps shut again as Gus snarls at him.
“Fuck off.”
That rapidly lashing tail should’ve been a warning, but Oswald ignored it. He doesn’t ignore the snarl. Gus isn’t just annoyed, he’s truly pissed. And Gus in this state is dangerous.
“Well, luv…” Oswald begins, making his way over to Gus, “…Y’know I don’t giva shit what ‘appened. Long as you’re safe…” He reaches out to rest a hand on Gus’ arm, but the metahuman pulls away sharply. Penguin clears his throat, “right.” Best not to piss Gus off more while he’s holding a loaded gun…
I already had this idea in mind for a fanfic I wanna write, but this event gave me the opportunity to draw it! I love Arkhamverse OzGus, and I love how this drawing turned out!!
Context: Oswald sent Gus out on what was supposed to be a simple mission; just supervise some of the men while they carry out a deal. But the deal went sideways and resulted in a shootout where multiple of Oswald’s men were killed. Gus snapped, lost control, and tore apart some of the attackers. When Gus returned to the Final Offer, he generally felt like shit. He was especially pissed off that the deal ended that way, so he took that anger out on Oswald as per usual (this is around Origins, so Gus is feeling particularly hostile towards Oswald anyway due to Oz cheating on him).
More updated refs for Artfight! Penguin, Lizardstalk & Puffin! My sillies!! These are so much better than their old refs. I can’t believe I thought my art style was good last year 😭
A couple of things I drew for college.
I got the prompts ‘texture’ and ‘movement’, and I decided to draw my boys (Penguin and Lizardstalk) for it.
For the top one, I really wanted to try something new to get the fur texture that I wanted. It took me a while, but I like how it turned out.
For the bottom one, I really enjoyed drawing the different poses. Lizardstalk is such a kitty cat, I love him.
@dc-oc-week Day 7: Family
After getting married to Gus, Oswald decides to bring back the old family tradition of getting a portrait done, except he opts for just a photo this time instead of a painting. Not only does this portrait go up on the wall with the others in Cobblepot Manor, but Oswald keeps a smaller version on his desk at the Iceberg Lounge. He loves his family so much, so he likes keeping the photo around.
Originally I was going to draw a bunch of portraits, but then I couldn’t be bothered so I just drew the one instead. I like to think that there’s portraits of Oswald and Frederick throughout the years on the walls of Cobblepot Manor. He would’ve gotten another one done after Edward joined his and Gus’ relationship, but Fred wouldn’t be in that one as he was busy on the day they took it.
Also, this is the first time I’ve properly drawn Frederick (hence the concept art on the right). He’s Oswald’s trans son that Oswald had when he was 23. Oswald loves his son so much, even if he didn’t get to be in Frederick’s life for a chunk of his childhood. He tries to show his son that he cares as best as he can. Frederick also takes over the Iceberg Lounge when Oswald and Gus retire.
@dc-oc-week Day 6: Bad Ending
After the death of his husband, Gus becomes obsessed with getting revenge. He doesn’t know exactly who was responsible, but he has a list of suspects. He doesn’t care if they’re innocent, he wants them all gone.
Decided to choose ‘Bad Ending’ for today’s prompt. I love this idea so much that I made it into an AU. The Bad Timeline AU!
Oswald gets murdered and Gus is the one that discovers his body. This completely breaks him. He can’t fathom that the one person who truly loved him and took care of him is gone. His husband. He often dreams about Oswald, and sometimes he could’ve sworn he can feel his presence. He breaks down in tears every time.
Gus becomes a villain and often goes to Edward for advice on how to be a villain. He creates his own suit and develops it over time as he learns more. He plots elaborate schemes to try and lure the Batfam in so he can get his revenge. He doesn’t have much evidence that one of them killed Oswald, but he blames them regardless.
Over time, Gus becomes more and more obsessed with revenge. He becomes very angry and impulsive, and he falls into a deep depression without Oswald around. He mistakes Edward for Oswald many times despite them being nothing alike. He misses his husband so much that he tries to convince himself that Oswald is still around, and he eventually becomes a shell of his former self.
This drawing doesn’t really have any specific context behind it. I just wanted to draw villain Gus looking cool lol. Also included the concept sketches :)
Two posts in one day? Crazy.
Anyway, I just finished this, so I thought why not post it now? I love how this turned out! The shading was very fun to do (as usual), and it was fun figuring out the pose and perspective.
Reevesverse OzGus my beloveds. I love them both so much it’s insane. My silly guys <3 (I’m hyperfixating on Reevesverse again, they might be all I draw for a while now).
I struggled to get refs for the background since we don’t see too much of Oswald’s bedroom in The Penguin. I tried my best tho. Just ignore that his duvet is supposed to have a pattern on it, I couldn’t be bothered to attempt to draw that accurately 😔.
OzGus, OzGus, OzGus!! I fucking love OzGus!!!!!!!!!
I call this one ‘early morning affirmations’. Originally, I randomly got the idea, but while I was drawing it I came up with some context. Basically, Gus just woke up, and as he’s getting ready for the day, Oswald tells him to come over. Gus complies and Oswald affectionately smushes his face and gives him every compliment under the sun.
They’re so incredibly cute!!!! My boys!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I really enjoyed drawing this (I know I always say that. I love drawing). The lighting was so fun to do, and I liked using my textured brush again. I think shading has become my favourite part of the drawing process.
