tbh I only like it when characters who are heavily implied to have DID just switch every now n then and it's not like explained on a deeper level it just fucking happens it would be awesome to see a character with DID that isn't like a serial killer but also not uwu nothing bad happens too.
gimme a bitch who is just very mentally ill and then has an alter(s) that they didn't know Abt but just accepts it while struggling to deal with co consciousness and sharing a vessel.
i feel like even among plural progressive spaces people try to make plural characters just, a lil too...idk how to word it actually, but I understand why we don't wanna be stigmatized but it is a struggling journey to deal with having like one to five different ppl in ur head with clashing traits. especially with involuntary switching.
I think I might make a preexisting character of mine plural like actually plural and have her struggle with it manically but also just accepts it overtime. I don't want it to be a big deal but not insignificant either.
also my character may be a bunny but she's not white in human form so-
#moresystemsofcolorplease
IMO this is an issue because of a broader trend which is that all characters that have a trait/identity outside of the "default" must be written in Some way as to educate the audience that doesn't have any/full context for that deviant trait/identity. I think it's become somewhat of a taboo to write about a person with a "deviant" identifying trait without making sure you educate the audience — because if you have the opportunity you MUST take it or else "you're not doing enough activism with your platform" or whatever.
This phenomenon applies broadly to all kinds of disability and illness, but also "deviant" sexual and gender orientations, religious and spiritual beliefs, racial/ethnic identity, and more I'm failing to think of. You're not "supposed" to write a story about these peoples without explaining/justifying yourself to the people who aren't like you, making sure they're comfortable with the confusing nuances they don't have context to.
People aren't making art for themselves when they "could" use their platform to educate others. And it's making the art bad — or at least fail to connect with the audience it's allegedly about. The character they're writing isn't the person, it's the "DID" or "chronic pain" or "Jewish" experience anthropomorphized at the expense of writing the character who HAS those traits. And it sucks ass.
AN ARRAY OF CALIBORN GIFS.
This has been going on for thousands of years! It doesn't change.

ngl I think if some of the passionate and studied researchers on DID would shoot themselves in the head if they saw how absolutely frothing at the mouth RABID some of you are to use the verity of the traumagenic model of DID just so you can turn around and weaponize the sociocognitive model of DID to be rude to people. How do you even manage that shit
So many of you will just uncritically spout direct sociocognitive model talking points about endos. Like. You know that's what you're promoting, right? You know that you evidently LOVE the sociocognitive model of DID? Or are we just saying whatever we want without knowing where our ideas come from all the time

Last Night in the Garden
I was scrolling through the persecutor tag because I'm in a mood and a post/sentiment kept coming up that really fucking grates on me:
"It's never okay to lock another alter up! You're violating their rights! There is never any possible explanation or justification of deliberately repressing another alter! This is not nuanced at all, and if you try to introduce any nuance to this conversation, I'm talking about you!"
And this sentiment is supposed to be in defense of persecutors.
Maybe I just don't fucking know what's going on in other systems. Maybe my persecutor's role is just wildly different than other persecutors for some reason.
But isn't the person locking other people up in the system usually a fucking persecutor themselves doing their fucking job?
"There are other ways to deal with people's bad behaviour than locking them up!"
Why are we assuming that all the people who get locked up in a system are receiving that treatment because they've done something wrong?
My persecutor's main role in my system is making sure other parts stay locked up and repressed. Because they cannot fucking be here and us stay safe and sane.
Because, newsflash, not all systems are in a fucking place where they can behave in the most healthy way possible! It's almost as if dissociative systems, which sums up the majority of the circumstances which create the plural population, is an adaption; and becomes a maladaption when it's not needed anymore.
Have you ever in your self-centered little world considered that SOME of us still fucking need the boundaries and repression of dissociation to survive without completely collapsing; or worse, getting genuinely fucking beaten or kicked out of our own homes, by our family, landlord, or the state? That some of us would be incarcerated in ACTUAL mental or criminal prisons if we didn't maintain our internal prisons?
I'm not going to pretend that I believe in carceral and punitive justice, because I don't, and I do believe that is a violation of a person's human rights.
I'm also not going to pretend that I don't believe the interactions between system members is fundamentally different than the interactions between individual-bodied humans; and not all incarceration in systems is an attempt at protecting non-system members safety or preventing unethical behaviours.
Stop pretending that repression and incarceration is the same thing. All system members are people with rights, yes, but the communal society we live inner-system is VASTLY different than the society between individual-bodied humans. It's frankly fucking disgusting to me to compare "locking-up fellow alters" to outer-world incarceration and say with your full chest that they're the same thing and violate the same rights.
You're comparing my persecutor to an actual fucking cop and prison warden because he does his job of keeping high-stress parts out of the already high-stress environment we live in; for the safety of fucking all of us, THEIRS most of all?
FUCK. OFF.
and keep my name as a persecutor out of your filthy goddamn mouth.
“I can fix him” I couldn’t fix him and I don’t want to. I think he grew prone to biting and scratching in order to get by in a harsh world, and to me his resilience is part of what makes him so beautifully himself. I could be kind to him, though. I could show him gentleness. I could, slowly but surely, in the same way one earns the trust of a skittish stray cat, convince him that my touch will never come accompanied by pain. That, around me, he can allow himself to be soft. To relax. I could be the one he associates with warmth and safety, the one he longs to be held by after a hard day. I could be his home.
