bad quality pictures, but i’ve been thinking about the contrasts in these two for a couple of days now. i think they did ‘em dirty with season 7 and i can only sigh.
How i feel about this character: I love Gina so much ❤ what I loved most about her was her character development. She went from being a person full of hate and resentment to choosing love instead of darkness and turning her enemies into friends. Whether she did them wrong or they did her wrong, she still found a way to find kindness in her heart and forgive them ❤

Top 20 Fucked Up Relationships on Once Upon a Time
For a positive, hope-filled family show Once Upon a Time has a lot of fucked up relationships (both platonic and romantic). Here’s a list of the top 20 screwed up relationships in my opinion:
20. Ruby x Peter
This is only here because she ate him even though it’s not her fault but it’s pretty fucked up and gave Ruby PTSD so... I think it counts.
19. Regina & Ariel
Okay, this was horrible, Regina. The reason why it’s not higher on the list is because eventually Regina gave Ariel her voice back and she was reunited with Eric.
18. Hook & Ursula
This was kinda tied with the previous one but I think this is a bit worse than what Regina did to Ariel because Ursula was actually trying to help him. On the other hand Ursula only lost her singing voice while Ariel couldn’t talk and that separated her from her true love so feel free to swap these two.
17. Cruella x Isaac
That one took a sharp turn... or several. I never liked Isaac but I feel sorry for the guy. Got played like that. He caused enough damage in return though so... these two might have been a match made in hell.
16. Cora x Rumplestiltskin
Those two are pretty horrible on their own but together... Maybe it’s a good thing it didn’t work out.
15. Merlin x Nimue
It was cute until it wasn’t. The way they used his heart to cast the Curse was pretty fucked up if not from a romantic point of view then at least from a logical point of view.
14. Arthur x Guinevere
Because that’s how you show your love. By using magic to make the person you love stay with you.
13. Neal x Tamara
Neal might not have been the best guy but he didn’t deserve that. And for the record I’ve never liked her.
12. Milah x Rumplestiltskin
This one is like a roller coaster. At first you feel sorry for Rumple, then you sympathize with Milah until you remember that both of them screwed up as parents. So basically they ruined not only each other’s lives but also their son’s. Great job, you guys!
11. Ruby & Anita
Because good parents do make their children kill their best friends. Not to mention that she was nowhere to be found during pretty much the entirety of Ruby’s life. And of course in the end Ruby was the one to suffer.
10. Cora & Regina
Another flawless example of parenting. Forcing your ambitions on your children always works out great in the end. Honestly, I don’t know how it can become worse. Oh, wait.
09. Cora & Zelena
Yup, even better. Just abandon your helpless daughter in the woods. And then separate her from her sister. Again. Parenting 101.
08. Regina x Graham
I still think this is the worst thing Regina has ever done. Although she seemed a bit upset when she crushed his heart so I can’t help but think that she developed some sort of feelings for him which of course does not excuse her actions.
07. Gothel x Hook
Basically same as the above (she did want him to join her) but with a bonus - there was a baby involved but I’ll get to that in a while.
06. Zelena x Robin
In my opinion this is the worst. Zelena had no feelings towards Robin whatsoever and did it only to hurt her sister. Although she did love her daughter at least.
05. Rapunzel & Drizella
Because killing your daughter to save your other daughter is what every mother would do. At least she realized she was wrong in the end. Which leads us to the next relationship.
04. Rumplestiltskin & Fiona
Severing your child’s destiny to keep your powers and then trying to separate him from the woman he loves. Great move, Fiona!
03. Rumplestiltskin & Malcolm
At least Fiona did what she did out of love. That’s not the case here. Honestly, what chance of being a good parent did Rumple have with parents like that (still doesn’t excuse what he did)?
02. Cruella & Madeline
This one spiraled right out of control. Cruella gets bonus points for killing both of her parents (although Rumple did the same).
01. Gothel & Alice
Having a child just so that it could take your place in your prison is not bad enough. You also have to separate said child from the parent that actually loved her. Gothel just won Mom of the Year.

You know what is utterly so dissappointing about OUAT is the injustice they did to Emma Swan’s character. In the beginning Emma is this strong, independent, passionate, stubborn character, I mean seriously case in point picture 1 they market Emma as your “Not-so-typical-Princess” only to turn her into one in picture 2. Her codependency to a guy is definition of an unhealthy relationship.
Picture 3 and 4 I mean come on!!! You really expect people to believe that is character growth?!?
So I finished Season 1! I love this season, watching it really reminded me why I love this show so much. More of what I thought of this season under the cut. It’s mostly broken down by characters.
General thoughts: It was really great. There is so many hints of what’s to come and little bits of foreshadowing throughout the season that it’s very easy to see how well everything was planned. Which i think eventually declined or the creators just choose shock value over other things later in the series, which is a conclusion I come to based on the fact that events in later seasons are contraindicated by this season. I forgot all about how much music is in this show with the great score and how the evil queen and “evilness” have their own theme. The attention to detail is great.
Kathryn: I love Kathryn/Abigail, she’s a really amazing person and i’m so happy she’s not dead. I completely forgot that she wasn’t really dead. I do feel it was so messed up the way Regina was willing to have her killed considering the way she pretended to be her friend.
Regina: She’s really unsympathetic this whole season. The only times I really felt for her was when Daniel died and most moments involving Cora and the end of the season when she says she loves Henry and then crys alone in his bedroom. She’s pretty awful the rest of time. Though I like her as villain, I’m not sure how I feel about her as a character. I also think season 2 is what really gets people to like because the presence of Cora really puts Regina in the light of a victim because Cora is insanely abusive. As well as the fact that I do believe Regina does and is written to love Henry and being without him really messes her up. But I believe part of her love for him is selfish and is because he makes her feel more whole. Which might be why people root for her because she is definitely broken and has a void in her and wanting to see her find real happiness makes sense. I do believe she blames the wrong people for her sadness.
Rumple: Is a very sympathetic character this season even with all the crazy shit he pulled, like the fire and attacking Belle’s dad. This is because though we can see the darkness in him we don’t fully see the actually evil toxicness of him, like the abusive way he treats Belle in later seasons, the things we find out about him and Milah. And the only time we get to see him before he’s linked to a dark being/power is showing us how much he cares about his son. Which brings me to probably the greatest reason he is sympathetic, his motive for creating the curse is to find his son. Which is actually not a terrible reason. There is also the fact that he resides in a very grey area this season, you never really know who’s side he’s on, he’s definitely not a hero but he doesn’t put himself squarely in villain’s corner either.I believe people who love Rumple as more then a villain and still love him and belle are holding on to his characterization here, when he’s more of a grey character. I’m not saying he didnt show signs of his worst traits cause he did like when he refers to Bae as a possession, but they were minuscule enough that they could be explained a way with the darkness. Which is why I think many people including me liked him and him and belle together during the early seasons. When I first watched the show I was still okay with up until the end of season 3, i think. I’m not saying he’s not a good villain because he’s a fantastic villain. His unpredictability and hidden motivation and lust for power makes him and interesting character and villain of a certain complexity. I do enjoy his character.
Sydney: I feel so bad for this guy. He loves Regina so much and she just uses him in both Storybrooke and in the enchanted forest. His backstory was pretty heartbreaking
Emma: Is such an amazing protagonist. Her love for Henry and the way she trys to push away her fears to be there for him is great. And the way she’s willing to put his needs before her own is what makes their love true because she loves him in a selfless way. She is such a human character. The regression she has after talking to August about how she has to save everyone makes so much sense. And the resolve she has to save Henry once she realizes there is something she can do. It also quite interesting to see the way Emma trusts people this season, it seems to come pretty easily to her with the way, she trusted both August and Sydney and even Mr. Gold pretty quickly. Though she has her wall and her upbringing didnt necessarily create a breeding ground for trust, it seems she to instinctually trust people. These people all turned out to be lying to her in some way which maybe why she’s less inclined to trust in later seasons. Emma and Mary Margaret’s friendship in this season is amazing and definitely has a lot of heart in it. Seeing Emma connect with people is really great which why the episodes with Cinderella and Ruby are heart warming and fantastic.
Snow and David: The obstacles their relationship had to face in both the past and present and the way they kept on coming together in spite of them was amazing and showed how truely powerful true love really is in that world. There are alot of Snowing moments with in season 1 that parallels later Captain Swan scenes and that ws very interesting to notice.
