I keep seeing the panel of dick crying on the couch next to the big portrait of him and Bruce being used to called dick silly and dramatic….. I cannot stress enough how much that was about Bruce being dysfunctional and cruel and dick had every right to be upset. Petition to get that panel off the streets unless we start being nice to the boy
It actually makes me unreasonably sad in like a meta way bc at that point dicks character was so alone and dependent on Bruce, not even Alfred existed yet, so as a child with no legal or emotional control over his life, Bruce could do literally whatever he wanted to him with no consequences bc dick has no one to turn to to validate his feelings. He has no one there to tell him that Bruce is a dysfunctional person and his actions are not always okay. So when Bruce suddenly decides that he’s firing dick and leaving him to fend for himself, dick is left completely abandoned and alone. And when Bruce comes back days later and says it was all an elaborate plan, dick doesn’t even know he has the option to be upset. And then even his readers belittle him and make fun of his feelings 😭
