me: DID YOU READ THE BOOK THIEF IN SCHOOL? IT'S LIKE, CLASSIC LIT BASICALLY RIGHT? I THOUGHT MOST PEOPLE READ IT IN SCHOOL.

coworker: NO. WHY?

me: I wanted to know if it's sad. I don't like sad books.

coworker: What's it about?

me: Well I'm about 10 minutes in and so far it's from the POV of Death in 1930's Germany so I'm not optimistic.

—2 hours later—

me: There's a lot more swearing in this than I expected and I feel like I'm not supposed to understand it all but I'm German.

coworker: *

me: WHAT?

coworker: IS IT ABOUT THE HOLOCAUST?

me: NOT AT THE MOMENT. BUT THE BAYERISCH SWEARING IS ENTERTAINING.

LINK MULTIPLE LIBRARY CARDS!! In the second pic you can see I’ve got 3 different library cards linked. Which means I can check out books of all three of them through Libby! There is no limit to how many cards you can link and it took me less then 5 minutes and 3 sentences of conversation to get those library cards! The librarians WANT you to read, in all my life a librarian has never denied me a card no matter how far away I live. Link multiple cards for more content!!

The payoff in Ring of Solomon when Bartimaeus finally ‘speaks with Solomon’ after I’d spent the last week or so listening to him brag about it like the precious windbag he is--That warranted a snort, a giggle, and Good Hearty Chuckle®. I was at work so I did get some strange looks though.

Accidentally finished listening to the Bartimaeus trilogy at 3AM after checking on a sick horse and bittersweetly cried myself back to sleep 🥲✌️

This just popped up when I opened OverDrive to do an hour of double-format speed-reading: when I listen to the audiobook in Libby at 3x speed while reading the e-book in OverDrive on the same device (triple format when I have the physical book open as well so I can sniff and annotate as we’re moving along - YES, I SNIFF MY BOOKS! Lol). I already predominately use Libby, so I knew this would eventually happen to the OG, but my heart still broke just a little. Given how much I can read several books together and/or back-to-back, reading that way at times helps me retain information and keep books and storyline separated. What is a book nerd to do now?
