TUMBLR OVERTURE TOURNAMENT
Compared to all of the other songs, overtures tend to get considerably less love among fans of musical theatre. Despite this, overtures can have some of the best music in the entire show! This tournament is dedicated to giving overtures the love they deserve.
What counts as an overture for the purpose of this tournament:
An overture plays at the beginning of the show: no entr'actes or exit music
An overture is not sung: with exceptions possible on a case-by-case such as A Little Night Music, an overture should be entirely instrumental. This means that--
An overture is not an opening song: Tradition from Fiddler is not an overture!
You may submit overtures from musical theatre, opera, or any other form of live performance, but please do not submit overtures from films.
Without further ado, here is the submission form!
Submissions will be open until a week from now, Monday, November 27th, and the contest will be run on a single elimination bracket model.
