so for Johnny i ship him with Ponyboy because like they can like have a full conversation without talking and it's the first ship I actually shipped in the outsiders and like they cuddled up for warmth nah they started dating in the church and then it's kinda doomed yaoi because Johnny dies but then a few weeks later Pony commits suicide and then they get back together back in the afterlife
and for Steve it's definitely Soda because they've been best buddies since grade school and when Soda came out of the shower, Steve just basically shoved some chocolate cake into his mouth and then he followed him upstairs and then Ponyboy said the sounds of a "pillow fight" could be hear... that definitely wasn't a pillow fight.
Two-bit, Dallas. they are polar opposites and like when Dally was at the hospital Two-bit just gave him a Mickey Mouse thing. Most definitely doomed yaoi because Dallas dies and if you headcanon Dallas to be transmasc and Lilly to be transfem, Lilly would probably look up to Dally, the only other trans person she knows and the other trans person is her big brother's boyfriend and there's also the introvert x extrovert and the black cat x golden reitriever dynamic
As for Darry, I don't really ship him with anyone, but I headcanon that he and Paul dated for like some number of years before his parents dies
