A crucial turning point for Jiang’s character: his daughter Peiling is killed in battle. Jiang arrived too late to aid her, and grieves over the dead body of his teenage daughter. This death haunts him to this day, creating a weight of immense guilt in him---which still affects him to this day. he blames himself for letting this happen, if it weren’t for his pride, his honor clouding his judgement--but more importantly, his heart.

with no one left, he grows bitter, and began enforcing stricter laws over the city. he began doing selfish acts to benefit himself. Emotional response: Jiang sends an army to wipe out the enemy clan that killed his daughter. it wasn’t so successful, as he lost half his men, and permanently injured his right wing.
