I want to own things - music, movies, books, shows, games - again. I want hardware, physical. Stuff that will wear out, but until it does, it is MINE. I am willing to buy shelves.

What was your childhood like and how are you now?
Had lots of things; has a hoarding problem
Had lots of things; now a maximalist
Had lots of things; has a normal amount of things
Had lots of things; now a minimalist
Had a normal amount of things; has a hoarding problem
Had a normal amount of things; now a maximalist
Had a normal amount of things; has a normal mount of things
Had a normal amount of things; now a minimalist
Had few things; has a hoarding problem

My car has a CD player and much better speakers than my computer. I need music in my car to bop and vibe to or else I will die. It helps me not get bored, stay emotionally regulated, and burn off bad moods. It helps me focus and pay attention better while driving. Digital-only / streaming / satellite radio sucks and I have no interest in it. For these reasons, I still own CDs and even buy new ones.
This past decade has been measurably less fun than the previous one
By the time I realised I wanted to live a lightweight way for a while, I had already accumulated things I hoped to keep forever. That was years ago and the urge to get rid of everything has dwindled, despite moving house umpteen times since.
You know what? I like it that some of my plates have chips in them. It reminds me that there’s more to life than instagramming my dinner.
The things you own end up owning you
