Oh man I hate journaling. I hate it so much. I hated it in high school, I hated it when I was a kid, and I hate it now. Don't get me wrong. It's not that I hate writing, I mean...look at this journal. Give me a topic I have an opinion on or can soapbox about and I can be as long winded as I like. Let me write at my leisure and I'll write sagas (so long as it's not that elusive novel/story that my brain never wants to settle down and write). But tell me I -have- to write on a topic and I lock up, I just can't stand it.
Diet journaling is THE SAME WAY!
It's such a pain in the ass, or as my good friend and previous roommate used to say, P.I.T.A. Despite that, it's doing something for me. Whether it's just being more conscious of when I eat or what I'm eating or how much I'm eating, I've actually lost 6 lbs in the week between my dietician visits. Now that's some nice progress! And worth the P.I.T.A. I don't feel as excited over it as everyone else seems to be though. I mean don't get me wrong, I'm glad to be losing, but at the same time there's this distinct feeling of "Ok, that's 6 more lbs that I can't screw up and gain back," or "alright, I did good and lost 6 lbs this week, now I need to do as good or better next week". And it's no one else telling me this, it's just my own silly brain going 'if you don't keep it up, you're failing'. Brain, I really hate you sometimes...really really hate you.
That small, niggling doubt aside, this has been a fairly good week. I learned a few things from my dietician (like calculating net carbs by subtracting dietary fiber from the total carbs to see how bad the carbs are, or balancing carbs/sugar with high protein or high fiber foods so your blood sugar doesn't spike and drop so severely) and I mean really...I LOST 6 LBS! In barely over a week! That is something to be proud of. It means I'm doing something right, and I need to keep doing it. And the best part is, I'm still getting to eat most of the delicious food I love.
Next visit to the dietician is Monday, hopefully more lbs lost then! Then back to Dr. Lucy on Tuesday to see if my blood pressure and blood sugar are any better. Will be a busy week, but it's worth it.
Finally shoutout to my newest WLS buddies: Cindy who I met at the bariatric clinic this week and my latest tumblr follower http://lovetheweighitfeels.tumblr.com/ . Keep at it ladies, you're doing great! :)
