Intro - Liam Dunbar
✹☾✮ ( dylan sprayberry. male. he/him ) It seems that LIAM DUNBAR has been drawn to Beacon Hills. That’s probably because they are a NINETEEN-year-old WEREWOLF. When they arrived here a year ago, they were very LOYAL + OUTGOING, but since then, they’ve been known to be more IMPULSIVE + SHORT-TEMPERED. They kinda remind me of music so loud you can hear it through the headphones, the short-lived rush of destruction. ( ra. 20. est. they/them )
tw: implied verbal abuse, physical violence, death
History
- The only child of Jenna and Andrew Dunbar, Liam grew up in Beacon Hills unaware of the supernatural that constantly roamed the woods around him. The first ten years of his life, he listened to his parents fight nonstop - his father the one who instigated it all.
- He doesn’t remember much of the time before Dr. Geyer, but he knows his father wasn’t a good man, Jenna’s told him as much. He also knows that his anger was born from that of his father’s.
- The rage, it started when he was around five or six and it only got worse from there. It defined every aspect of his life. Or at least, it did until Dr. Geyer had something to do with it. The man taught him a lot about himself, about his rage, and about how to do something about it. He taught him how to play lacrosse, gave him something to focus on, and never let his misbehavior change the way he saw Liam.
- Even Freshman year, when he destroyed his coach’s car - amongst other things - Dr. Geyer didn’t look at him like he was a monster. Not even when everyone else did, his mother included. She saw his father, he knew it. She saw his father when she looked at him and it stung. The only good thing to come from it was a name. A diagnoses. IED.
- When he transferred to Beacon Hills High, it was a fresh start; a chance to start anew where no one knew his name or what he’d done. He immediately joined the lacrosse team and kicked ass doing it. He was good and he knew it, it was one of the only things he was truly proud of.
- However, everything changed when he met Scott and Stiles. He was bitten, once again a monster only this time with fangs and claws and eyes that glowed, and it was only with time and trust that he managed to control the beast that had taken up residence inside him.
- They became his pack, his family. They gave him something new to define himself with and it felt a hell of a lot better than “lacrosse prodigy” or “IED.”
Present Day
- Currently, Liam works as a dishwasher at a local resturant while taking classes part time at Beacon Hills Community College. He’s moved out of his parent’s house and lives in an apartment a few blocks from Deaton’s office.
- He’s volunteered to help coach the lacrosse team over the summer. He still loves the sport and any chance to get involved again is one he’s more than willing to take. Plus, his therapist thought it’d be a good idea - a chance to work on his patience - and he’s had a good time doing it.
- He swore to protect the pack and Beacon Hills when Scott and the rest of the pack went off to College and he’s not breaking his promise now. Not even now that everyone’s returned. Especially not now.
- Liam wants to figure out who he is outside of the world of the Supernatural he’s been stuck in since his freshman year. He has no idea what he wants to do in the future and he’s taking the time they’re stuck to try and figure it out while simultionsly helping the effort to actually get out however he can.
Personality
- Liam is an extroverted and confident person who gets attached to people easily and holds his friends and family as the highest priority. His loyalty and bravery make him an asset to the pack and a decent all around friend. He can think quick on his feet and, while they’re not always the best ideas, he sticks with them through to the end.
- However, he can be impulsive and once he sets his mind to something, it’s hard to change it no matter the risks or potentially pitfalls. He has a habit of fixating on the smaller details without thinking about how they effect the greater picture...or other people.
- His IED and his anger have always played a role in how he interacts with the world. While it doesn’t completely control him anymore after years of therapy and working with the pack, he still struggles with it, especially during the full moon. Having an anchor helps, even if said anchor is a manipulative sociopath with a history of murder and betrayal.
Headcanons
- He hates the cold. Even as a werewolf, even though he can stand the cold better than any human, he’d rather not.
- He joined a gym and took up boxing after graduation to give himself a physical outlet for his anger. Lacrosse had always filled that hole and once he graduated, he had to find something new. Liam enjoys it, it’s fun, and it really works. It exhausts him to no end and it’s better to punch a punching bag then to break things with his fists.
- He and his parents have a very close relationship. He loves his mom more than anyone in the entire world and he’s incredibly grateful for everything his stepfather has done for him. For the longest time, he wanted to be a doctor so he could be just like him, but that childish dream has been dispelled by the frequent exposure to injury and death his life already brings.
- He has a dog named Augustus. He’s an old pitbull who kind of hates him and Liam’s doing his best to turn that around with treats and long walks.
- He doesn’t drink because of his I.E.D. Mood altering substances can pose a risk and he’s not willing to take it. Not often, at least.
