Hey any paleoart people out there. I have a quandary and mid-level art skills.

Beelzebufo ampinga is the largest prehistoric frog, known to have probably eaten small dinosaurs. As a Frog Enjoyer for my entire life I like that this thing exists.

However the recreations for it, in my opinion, rely far too heavily on Pacman frogs for its base

Like, c'mon.

And I get it, here's there bones compared. But Beelzebufo ampinga has a far larger mouth, wider nostril holes, and I highly doubt it's coloration would look similar to a modern pacman.

All this to say...I would like to draw a recreation of Beelzebufo ampinga. Is there any resources/methods people have for research? Is there a standard or is it just vibes??

today's funky frog of the day is: the brazilian horned frog! (Ceratophrys aurita) i was immediately entranced by the sheer ROUNDNESS of these friends, as well as the horns. they're native to brazil and live in marshes, tropical forests, and ponds! just look at the pattern on their eyes... they are beautiful :) (x)
