This may be a hot take for paganism at this current point in time (considering most things are now accepted with nary a question) but it is impossible to “godspouse”.

There are so many people “godspousing” the same deities, I honestly think it’s just infatuation and novelty with a bit of main character syndrome and/or lack of human interaction thrown into the mix. (Could it also be TikTok/short form influence, hmm?) Tbh I think claiming “godspouse” is disrespectful to deities period. We are not the same entities.

They can be your patron/guardian, but your spouse??? 😭 is it a semantics thing that people just aren’t following??

A reminder that Kevin Danaher’s excellent “The Year in Ireland: Irish Calendar Customs” can be borrowed online for free on archive.org! It contains a wealth of recorded practices and customs for Irish holidays, including Brigid’s day, Samhain, and many other important days.

A list of "pantheons" that are fully open (that I'm aware of):

Germanic

Slavic

Baltic

Kemetic

Hellenic

Roman

Celtic

Mesopotamian

(I might miss a few more)

Fully open means that you can right away start worshipping the divinities of your choosing without any connections to ethnicity, race, skin colour and etc.

You don't have to be "called/reach out" by a deity from these paths to start worshipping them.

All you need to have is – being respectful, having patience, being aware of and learning about the traditions/practices in these paths and love the Gods!

Obviously a path/religion being open doesn't mean you can just barge right into it being all disrespectful of and disregarding the customs of these religions and cultures that are from. (Which is pretty a obvious fact, but it's better to mention it.)

In general the rule (or I guess, a pattern) of a "pantheon" being open, roughly speaking is – if a certain path has no surviving continuity to the modern times, which the ones listed don't have, (and if someone tries to convince you otherwise, you can know that they're full of shit). Worth also noting that, if you see someone talking about the necessity of being connected by "blood and soil" while talking about the paths I mentioned above, you found a nazi/"folkist", and better stay far away from them.

so like after doing some more offerings for Lord Cernunnos, but these were like devotional acts more than physical offerings (listening to Celtic Folk Music and podcasts about him) i felt the same thing i felt when i realized i wanna be a devotee of Apollon and Hermes

when i wanted to type "i want to be a good worshipper to him" i almost typed "i wanna be a good devotee to him" this even happens in my mind

and when i was searching for things for that offering, i felt smh and when i gave it to him, it (the feeling) became even stronger

it literally feels like my soul is calling out to him, like it's searching for him, like it needs him

my question is, do you think i should be his devotee, or is that something i have to figure out on my own?

If you feel this strongly about devoting yourself to Cernunnos, I think you should follow that feeling. Intuition can be a very powerful thing, and it usually guides us toward what our ‘higher selves’ (I just call it spirit) know we need. It’s definitely a personal journey, so ultimately you’ll have to be the one to decide what happens next. But I would advise that you look deeper into this at the very least. If you have the means to, try doing some divination on this subject, and maybe you could gain some insight from Cernunnos himself. You never know 🌿

Everyone is welcome to document and collaborate on their Celtic journeys; no matter the cultural differences, pagans and witches and pagan witches alike (lol).

Irish paganism is at the forefront of many Celtic circles, but in general pagan communities can become mistaken for or mishmashed with a lot of Wiccan traditions. While we want to give light to as many underrepresented Celtic cultures as we can, Irish paganism is definitely a popular favorite in our community 😂
