Thoughts:
I really loved this drama! I watched it as it aired on TVer, but I recently re-watched it to make this list as I haven't heard anyone talk about it and it's such a whumpy show with so many of my favourite traits! I'm a sucker for superpowers and visions whump and the power overload trope so this was amazing for me. There's whump in literally every single episode lol
Saiki is seriously protective of those he loves and is extremely distressed when people get hurt. He often clashes with Jinnai over his lack of consideration for others. Jinnai is incredibly jaded and tries to cover his feelings with humour, but he's so traumatised by what happened to his wife, he's unable to care about anyone or anything and is only set on revenge. It makes for an intense dynamic between the two which softens over time as they learn about each other, and by the end, they really have each other's backs.
This show is definitely going to be one of my re-watches! I plan on making some GIF sets at a later date, and I will try to post some clips here as well if I can.
Li cu is given vials of snake venom that cause painful visions. If he doesn’t poison himself with them and get the information they want, they’ll kill his friend.

Thoughts:
What an absolute train wreck this was. And I loved every second of it! Story? All over the place. Plot? Insane. Did it make sense? No. Are the characters rational or normal? In zero capacity. Was it entertaining? Absolutely!
Listen, there's plot holes galore, and nothing makes sense half the time, but this show knows what it is. It's every trope that's ever been put into a fanfiction. It's camp. It's dramatic. It's the omegaverse. In my mind, it does not have to make sense, it just needs to be enjoyed for what it is.
Whump-wise, it was another great season, with so many tropes in it, to the point where I dare say this show knew what the audience wanted. Which was attractive guys suffering... basically. You can't tell me that Kenta and Willy aren't exemplary archetypes for a whumpee. Kenta, the damaged, traumatised, defiant one raised to be a guard dog (who just so happens to be stripped at almost any occasion so we can see his muscles wounds); and Willy, the sympathetic villain whumpee. Willy was damaged by everyone on all sides, even the "good guys". And that's not to let bro off the hook, he was insane, but hell if you don't feel a smidge bit sorry for him at points.
I wouldn't even classify any of the plot holes as faults, considering how entertained I was watching this. It's not meant to be taken seriously, just enjoy the ride and the whump it offers.
Now, I'm off to go and stalk Garfield Kankham's Instagram. See you next time!
what's your favorite whump trope that is like super rare or just hard to find??
mine is when some sort of spray is used, either to hurt the person being sprayed or to knock them out
i've only seen it twice like in mob psycho used on mob and in kamen rider drive used on gou but i love it lol
Hello!!!
I am so sorry for the late reply, I never saw this :( But to answer your question: I think my favourite hard to find whump trope has to be the "painful visions" trope. I can only think of a couple of examples, the most notable one being Sam Winchester from Supernatural. I don't think I've ever really seen this trope in Asian media which is a shame (or maybe I'm not looking in the right places - who knows!)
I find it kind of surprising that it's so hard for me to find considering it seems to be a popular trope in the whump community itself. If anyone has recs, please let me know! Even if it seems obvious lol. I didn't grow up on Western media so I'm not all that informed!
I actually went back and looked through all my lists to see if I had anything that fit the "spray" trope and, damn, you're right, it's very very rare indeed! If anyone can help anon out please reply/reblog this post! :)
