Sometimes an artist just wants to do art for arts sake! Not every depiction of a dinosaur is meant to educate about paleonthology! "But if children see those, they will think this is how they where" No. Children are not stupid. And they will not for some reason believe a random artpiece over what they see in their beloved books specifically on dinosaurs. Kids are able to distinguish between a random dinosaur clipart ( even if it looks realistic), and a scientifically faithful one! A kid, seeing a piece by Dali will not suddenly believe that this is what Elephants look like
Paleonthology, especially the twitter and popular-paleonthologist side, would profit greatly from accepting that Sometimes! An art is just that! An art! Aint that deep bro! Let people draw what they want! And stop gatekeeping your precious british gentlemansclub!
Thelodus illustration I found. One of the first fish and so silly shaped too
I'd love to learn about demonology, angelology, witchcraft, pirates, fairies, dinosaurs, history of art, mythology and different cultures but at the same time I can't imagine myself concentrating enough to read about it and actually retain the information (nor listening to an audiobook).
Every living thing in this world is either a) a reptile. or-
b) not a reptile.
And we often don't know which is which.
A wiwaxia, because it's FossilFriday!
A swimming dinosaur: The tail of Spinosaurus
Made some prehistoric marine creatures in 3D for a school project
Also placed them in a rudimentary VR environment in case anyone’s interested
Ugh 3DSMAX is hell in code form
