Request for anon: Could you write plangst during season 8 where pidge realizes she doesn't stand a chance with seeing him with Allura?
Alone with you - does that make sense?
And hide you in my treasure chest
To do with your kiss on my neck
I don't know what feels true
But this feels right so stay a sec
Yeah, you feel right so stay a sec
She felt stupid now. Only now, after months of pining and accepting had she realized, Lance would never belong to her. Her face felt hot and her heart thumped wildly her chest.
She gripped her bayard tightly, looking back down. Of course. How could she have thought anything else? It was so obvious so everyone on board, who Lance was into.
And that was Allura. Allura, the princess of a fallen Nation. Allura, beautiful in every sense of the word.
And let me crawl inside your veins
I'll build a wall, give you a ball and chain
It's not like me to be so mean
She wouldn't lie. She'd dreamt about him more than once. She'd dreamt he'd hold her, but this time he'd press kisses to her skin, rather than team cuddles. He'd whisper how much he adored her and how appreciated she was.
But the way he looked at Allura, the way his hand lingered for just a little too long to be friendly. She knew, his heart belonged to another.
Her eyes trailed the two in silence, analyzing every move, every sound and expression.
"Katie!" Lance smiled, "look!" He started to lift something but she cut him off.
"Don't call me that. You know how much I hate it." She brushed him off.
Fingertips against my cheek
Gold leaf across your lips
Kiss me until I can't speak
Gold chain beneath your shirt
The shirt that you let me wear home
Gold's fake and real love hurts
And nothing hurts when I'm alone
When you're with me and we're alone
Pidge looked at the shirt in her hand. She chewed the inside of her cheek, a nervous tick she'd picked up since she left earth. She couldn't help but smile soft as she recalled the events that had taken place on that particular night.
She had always meant to give it back, but each time the time had come, she either forgot or some life threatening situation had come up. But if any time was time to return the shirt, it was now.
She gripped it in her hand, taking a deep breath before leaving the safe confines of her room.
Her footsteps echoed until she stopped in front of Lance's door. She gave the white cloth one last look before she knocked on the doors.
They opened after a few seconds and Lance looked down at her with a smile. He was in his nightly mask and stupid blue robe that she loved. "Pidge! Hey!"
"Hey," she held up the shirt. "This is yours. I kept meaning to return it, things just came up " She mumbled, looking at the ground.
"Oh, well you can have it." He answered warmly.
"I really don't mind, I know you like T-Shirts like that."
"Seriously I don't mind, I can find another one at the next space mall-"
"I don't want your stupid shirt, Lance!" He went quiet, his smile fell and hurt had settled into his eyes. "Just..Just take it. Please."
"Right." He took the shirt with gentle hands and looked at her. She wanted to say something, anything, she hated seeing him hurt, but she decided staying quiet was the best option.
And let me crawl inside your veins
I'll build a wall, give you a ball and chain
It's not like me to be so mean
The walk down the hallway seemed to last hours. She could feel his eyes follow her and her heart pleaded and cried, maybe her chance wasn't so gone. But once she'd made it to her room, she remembered.
She sank into her bed, staring at the ceiling. Why did it hurt so much? Why did it hurt so much to know that a boy couldn't think of her the same.
She wished she had her brother, she wished she could rant and cry to him about unrequited love but instead she recieved the cold walls that surrounded her. She recieved silence and isolation.
Warm tears rolled down her cheeks and the sight of the painted stars above her bed blurred.
