A Goldfish and a Door

There is a mountain in Italy filled with candles. Some of the candles are tall and white. Some are short and sputter with the blue flame. Each person has his own candle. When he is born, the candle is lit; when the candle goes out, he dies. You can see this mountain, Carmolina, only in your dreams, but God will not let you see your own candle, even in a dream. If there is a mistake, and you see your own candle, you will die. This is how people die in their sleep.

Shenanigans

Sometimes, all the characters in my head, canon or otherwise get so very chatty. Especially when I’m trying to focus on projects or work. ugh. 

To sum up this week: 

Optimus decided he likes bad puns, the intentionally terrible kind. To Ratchet’s dismay, Ironhide not only thought it hilarious but decided to join in. And then Jazz took the crown from both of them with some seriously dumb-aft jokes. 

The Aerialbots made a blanket and pillow fort with crates as support in the shuttle bay. It was big enough that even the larger mechs could sit inside without ducking. 

Jazz and Optimus got roped into making sequined paper fish by a youngling named Mimic (one of my characters). The little one gave the Twins some extras he made. Jazz used his fish to whack the Twins’ fish which led to said Twins declaring their fish ate Jazz’s. This upset Mimic until it was decided that Jazz’s fish couldn’t be eaten because it had the sequins of immortality (silver and rainbow sequins) and guarded all other fish from the Red Devil Octopus.

Ratchet didn’t know what to make of the paper and sequin octopus he was given. He also didn’t know why some of the mechs decided to make paper sea creatures to hang from the ceiling of the rec room. I suspect they were bored.

Wheeljack got kidnapped by some natives and taught that catapulting rotten fruit at ones neighbors was a normal tradition. Some particular humans had way too much fun corrupting him.

And Grandma was making the world for her, between her shabby old fingers. She was telling Carmolina about Italy, about the land that got lost across the sea, the land that was hidden on the other side of the world. When Grandma said how beautiful Italy was – how it was near blue waters which were always still and how she could watch wooden sailing ships coming so close to her house that one day she jumped on one and sailed away…
