You did the best you could, after Coast City was... gone; you moved back to your hometown with nothing but the clothes on your back and slept on your dad’s couch while you got back on your feet. 

Eventually, you’d saved enough to move Star City. Ollie had helped a lot. 

He co-signed on your apartment’s lease and helped pay the initial deposit, on top of getting you new furniture. He’d pitched a fit after finding out you’d been sleeping on a mat on the floor. 

There was a support group that you attended every Wednesday at six o’clock in the evening that was full of survivors who survived by the grace of being out of town and others who had barely made it out alive. Those people never talked during the meetings; you honestly couldn’t blame them. You wouldn’t want to either.

You didn’t like thinking about Coast City. 

Hal, who always left his wet towels on the dresser. Hal, who had started going gray at his temples prematurely. Hal, who had started doubting himself. 

Hal, who went mad over the loss of Coast City. 

You loved Hal. You really did love him. But you couldn’t watch as he went against everything he had once stood for and you refused to be part of it.
