how did you like being a park greeter at dak?
Hiya Anon! Being a Park Greeter at DAK was the most amazing experience I could’ve ever asked for. The full time cast members there are some of the nicest people on the planet. Always treated me like I was their daughter or granddaughter. And the coordinators and managers were always helpful and understanding and always tried their best to help in whatever way they could. I was deployed to Hollywood Studios for two months and sure the cast there were nice but they weren’t as inviting or warm or friendly as DAK. I always felt like I was an outsider because I had come from another park. At DAK, even though I was a park greeter i was also crossed trained for Auto Plaza which opened up a whole other world for me. You meet more people and you learn more about your park. And the cool thing about DAK’s main entrance area is that we all pretty much share one big breakroom. So not only do the PGs come into this break room but so do the guest relations cast members, the merchandise/strollers cast, the custodial cast, the parking cast, fast pass+, disney security, wilderness explorers, at night we have the disney bus drivers, and occasionally entertainment cast as well. So we have this huge break room full of awesome cast from all over the main entrance which is a blast. Being a park greeter is essentially the easiest role to have it just gets repetitive and some days feel like they’ll never end. but on the bright side, DAK is normally the first park to close so even if you’re one of the closing cast members you’ll rarely leave after 11PM which is always nice! If you have anymore questions feel free to ask! :D
Imagine being the first cast member guests see before they begin their vacation in a Walt Disney park. Erin was able to do exactly this during her college program. Here's what she had to say about her experience!

Training Day Three
June 07, 2014
It was the last day of training. We basically went over information we learned the past two days, and worked at the touch points. WOO. Haha, it was really freaking hot. My one manager gave the okay for wearing a bandaid on my tattoo so I can wear a tshirt. YAY!
Tomorrow is my assessment, and I'm a little nervous.
I also talked to my dad today, it was really nice because its been over a week since he has been at scout camp. You never really realize how much you miss someone until you start talking to them, and though I of course missed my dad these past couple weeks, the phone call made me miss him more.
Eard earned! (Again)
"Be Our Guest"
June 03, 2014
Today was orientation through the tunnel. It was pretty intense, but really cool learning all about Magic Kingdom. I also got my lovely uniform for Park Greeting. WOOO! A very informational and tiring day. But hey! One step closer!
I also got to see the 3 o' clock parade on my tour!!
Did I Mention....?
I am going to be a PARK GREETER AT MAGIC KINGDOM!
A Couple of Laughs
On the Disney College Program, you learn pretty quickly that your status as "CP" stands for "Closing Person" more often than "College Program". I really don't mind this - being in the park without guests, even just for a few minutes, is a really magical experience. I work the turnstiles as park greeter, and I really enjoy closing them. After most people have exited, me and my fellow closers do various tasks - cleaning the turnstiles, covering them, restocking maps, waving to people as they exit. There is always a duck couple (yes, real ducks!) who come waddling up from the Seven Seas Lagoon, snapping up pieces of popcorn and other scraps. One night a park greeter friend was working exits, and the ducks came up to her gate. She playfully asked them for their tickets, holding a completely one-sided conversation with the ducks about where they can go to buy tickets, where the nearest restrooms are - completely joking, of course. Another park greeter, passing by the duck-conversing greeter, stopped dead in her tracks and did a double-take in confusion upon hearing the first greeter talking, apparently to thin air! I watched this from the side, observing both cast member's actions with gleeful mirth! The completely befuddled park greeter continued walking, still wearing a look of pure bewilderment. She got to me and motioned to the duck chatter, and I pointed out the ducks. She was relieved that our fellow closing person wasn't crazy; just having a bit of fun! Thanks, ducks, for some laughter to close the Magic Kingdom.
