@parnasse oh huh! that’s really interesting, i didn’t know NB was considering it. i remember seeing lots of vague talk back in the late 00s/early 10s (the last time i was really active in the fandom, tbf) about a sequel and some probable concept art, but nothing actually solid. was there ever anything officially said about a cancelled project? :0
JP fans i think never died out on BK, they’ve been going strong for almost 20 years 😭 i was on the very old official bk forums before the NB merger shut it down so seeing so much fanart in the wild the last couple of years has been totally wild to me!!! it makes me so happy, they’re such special games
how about your favorite lord, for the character ask?
Favourite lord? Hmm. I don’t have a single favourite lord, so I’m going to go for Seliph and Micaiah, both of them being among my favourites and kinda underappreciated, so I’m giving both of them their time in the spotlight. You get two lord breakdowns at the price of one, lucky you! Does a pretty bad impression of that gesture every Anna loves doing Let’s start with Seliph first: How I feel about this character Gosh, I love him so much I mentioned in a post a while ago that the main reason why I love him and Corrin is because of how vulnerable they are without anyone giving them crap for it (well, in-universe at least) and I still stand by it wholeheartedly. While many FE lords don’t enjoy fighting, Seliph is the one who is downright terrified of it and would rather be anywhere else. While it’s not much acknowledged in FE4, Heroes really emphasized this aspect of him, between mentioning he has constant nightmares from the war and his confession which I love with all my heart. And really, all of this makes him feel so human. He doesn’t feel worthy of his position as a leader and feels weak compared to his father, and he’s openminded and determined to make things better for everyone, knowing full well the struggles won’t be over with the Loptyrian order’s downfall. He has Sigurd’s kindness but none of the recklessness that got him killed. Him talking about how he’s strong because of his allies feels truly genuine, and it’s wonderful when he ends up becoming stronger like his father. Just like his allies give him the strength to fight, he also fills his allies with courage. And in general, my favourite foil of father and son is this: Sigurd would rush into danger without a second thought if it means keeping his loved ones safe. Seliph would be plagued by fear, but will still always face danger if it means the ones he loves don’t have to. And I think that’s the bravest thing of all. All the people I ship romantically with this character None, because I haven’t found any ship I really like or that had any sort of dynamic, because FE4′s pairing system is really weird and people get married without ever talking to each other. He ended up married to Lana when I played Geneaology though, so there’s that I guess? My non-romantic OTP for this character Julia! I really wished we had more time of them bonding as siblings properly, if not in FE4 at least in Heroes. (And with Julius in Crusader of Darkness, hopefully you’ll see ;) ) I really like the few interactions he has with Leif too. My unpopular opinion about this character Haven’t got one, I think most of the things I said above are pretty cold takes. One thing I wish had happened with this character in canon So, you know that scene when you seize Yied where Seliph finds out about the persecution the Loptyrian order endured and why they became so enraged with the world that they resurrected Loptous? In the Oosawa manga adaptation (which I haven’t read but really should, especially as inspiration for Crusader of Darkness) it’s not just a bunch of lines and then ignored from the rest of the game, it’s expanded further with Seliph meeting young Loptyrian children and rescuing them from an angry mob that wanted to lynch them to death because of what the priests did and ending up taking them in his care. Well, I want that scene canon. Absolutely. It’s such a powerful scene and gives a lot of nuance to the whole struggle. Not to mention portraying the Loptyrian order as something more than laughably evil priests that are likely clones. And beyond that, more of Seliph in general, and I really hope the eventual FE4 remake does him justice. And now, Micaiah! Just as a warning, Radiant Dawn is the first game I played. Which was probably more than ten years ago. And I have no intention to play it because it’s such a massive game and I’m too lazy to replay it. To say my memories of FE10 are foggy is an understatement, so if I get stuff wrong or forget something, this is why.
“parnasse: second the above reply; girl archers just absolutely rule in fire emblem. but i also just pick the women regardless of stats anyway. because it's the only rpg series where i can have a huge team of women.”
Literally the only correct Fire Emblem opinion. I tend to do the same thing.
I reached out to touch my kitty’s paws as a joke expecting her to pull them away, bc I forgot for two secs that she is a sleepy handholding FIEND and now I am trapped
parnasse replied to your post: simp is just the 2020 term for beta
i once tried to explain to my friend why ‘simp’ made me uncomfortable and i couldve just said this if i had a brain. fuck
I have an admitted fondness for abusing passe terms (my friends and I have a running joke of misusing ‘gay’ as badly or nonsensically as possible, ie “spending time with your girlfriend? what are you, gay?”) but it really makes me ??? when the exact same people who deride ‘beta’ as misogynist/toxic/etc are all over ‘simp’.
