Werewolves make all kinds of sounds.
Many of them are the same or equivalent to sounds humans make, some are similar to their feral brethren the natural wolf, but some are unique to the werewolf species altogether. To more easily differentiate between the two, werewolves will be referred to as Wolves, with a capital "W."
The werewolf voice box is constructed differently than a human's. Werewolves are uncomfortable talking about this because it was one of the ways mankind could tell a werewolf child from a human child during the Dark Times. I won't go into details about that, but the morphology of throat structures and the lower mandible are a sensitive topic, so it's best not to bring it up.
Let's dive right in:
Humming - All werewolves hum when they feel safe or content. Where humans hum by singing with their mouth closed, but Wolves hum using the bottom range of their voice box, so a Wolf with a higher register voice can still have a very deep hum. Some are so subtle that you can't tell they're doing it unless you've very close. And I mean very.
Rumbling - While humming is often perceived only at very close range (usually through physical contact), rumbling occurs deeper in the chest and vibrates the sternum, air in the lungs, and the uvula. Rumbling occurs most often between a pair of wolves in courtship, within a mated pair, but can also occur between friends if they're snuggling or providing comfort. Rumbling could be considered how Wolves 'purr.'

Sometimes I feel like you guys must think I’ve just vanished. Gone. Dead. Deceased.
Surprise! 🎉 I’m alive! Just currently drowning in uni stuff and work and everything else. I hate it.
I also suffered from a terrible case of ✨️Akute Lustlosigkeit✨️ (literal translation: 'acute lack of desire/motivation'), otherwise known as the silly little 'I don’t even want to think about Squid Game or read or write or do anything' phase. And I think studying fried my last functioning brain cell... But hey – I passed the exam!! 🎉
Anyway, I just wanted to let you know that I’m alive and (kinda) well, and that I am working through all the requests! I even managed to shrink the mountain of asks by drafting a bunch of replies. So technically progress is being made 👀🙃 They’re all sitting in my drafts like captured hostages until I finish them 😂 But I’m getting things done!!
Also... when exactly did we all start calling In-ho’s wife Yuna?? When did that collective decision happen?? Because suddenly she’s Yuna everywhere and I’m just standing here like ?? 😭😭😭
Ah shit. It’s past midnight and I have to get up at 5am to catch the train at 6 to get to uni in time for my 8am seminar. Lovely. Truly thriving. Love that for me 💀
Okay, enough rambling from me. I’ll update the WIP post soon 💕

the sinking feeling where you have no choice but to keep yourself up all night, because if you lie in bed for two minutes, your thoughts become overwhelming and you will never calm down.
