Finished designs from the November pack. It’s still coming, just slowly. Having to reschedule everything around my day job has come with the reminder that I too am subject to physical limitations, alas.

Moon "An independent lunar explorer and their companion were sent to explore the relatively mapped and familiar territory of a moon close to their planet. Having made an unintentional and extended stay due to malfunctioning equipment that was meant to get them home, they've formed a rapport with the control team that monitors them as a way of keeping themselves entertained while being stranded. The fact that both they and their companion now have the intellectual capacity to be entertained and, in fact, to experience boredom at all is a mystery in itself, but they're both so cheerful that nobody back home feels like they should say anything..."

Dragon Slayer + Winged "An unusual pair bound together by the concepts used in their creation. Dragons are a constant plague in the mountaintop city they hail from, and many conventional defenses proved useless against their attacks, as they apparently viewed the city's population as deliciously soft food that happened to occasionally be coated in metal. One tinkerer had the idea of creating dragon-hunting automatons that came with their own 'bait' - sheep to draw a wolf to a hunter, as it were. So far, this pair of prototypes has proven incredibly successful at bringing down dragons - fueled both by their intended purpose and their desire to protect one another from harm."

Everyday Acts of Murder: Dog Walking

On good days, Marlborough Park field was just the right side of pretty. Sun glinted off fences and goalposts while bright, bushy grass hid litter and dog excrement from immediate view. Although Marlborough Park was just off a main road, the traffic was strangely muffled, and walking one’s dog around the park’s perimeter was often surprisingly meditative. One could almost, almost, be somewhere other than a field with a large amount of dog excrement. On bad days, like today, Marlborough Park was hell. Rain beat down on Susie’s glasses while wind whipped her hood off her head. Her left Wellington boot had resigned its duties and she could feel mud seeping through her sock. She could hardly hear traffic, but that was only because the wind howled as it flew through the park, lashing rain in every direction as thunder clapped in the distance.

Diana, Susie’s large mastiff-crossed-with-something-else-big, had bounded into the car that morning without a second thought, while Susie pulled on a raincoat and gritted her teeth. Diana was the only dog Susie had ever come across who preferred rain to sunshine, and as Susie trudged to the halfway point of their walk, Diana trotted happily along the fence line, tail wagging. Susie stopped to wipe rain from her glasses – she would probably see better without them at this point – and realised Diana had bounded ahead to meet someone coming in the opposite direction. She wriggled her toes to check they hadn’t frozen off and caught a whiff of something.

It was not mud in her sock after all.

Of course it wasn’t.
