Top comment: Interestingly, in the Irish version of the Constitution, when describing the colours of the flag, it describes the orange not as *oráiste* (which is the usual word for orange) but as *flannbhuí*, which literally means “blood-yellow”. Same effect, but it's an interesting choice of words. Also, many people, especially those from Kerry, insist that the flag is green, white, and *gold*. That's why you'll sometimes see flags with a more yellow-y colour instead of the orange, especially if you go down the country to Kerry. Unfortunately it's not been entirely successful at its message of cross-community peace lol. Still a beautiful flag, but then again I am biased :)
