In anticipation of a large sewing project, I made myself some pattern weights!
Free pattern/tutorial by Hello Sewing [video]
I first made them from 5"x10" rectangles (solid green and solid orange above), but realised these were a bit big; so then made the 4"x8" as recommended by the pattern (orange plaid).
Because my fabrics were loosely-woven, and I'd be filling them with aquarium gravel, I used a lightweight fusible interfacing. I think this was a great idea and highly recommend it.

I'm very excited for this large project!
Let's make some functional sewing tools and do some scrap busting at the same time!
We're making pattern weights today!

Finally made myself some pattern weights!
I used the first tutorial that came up on youtube but instead of uncooked rice I used a mix of gravel and sand (the ones for indoor decoration) as filling. Afterwards I made a small (foldable!) fabric box to store them (and probably some other stuff) in.
A quick and fun project that'll be useful too!
I have just enough of this fabric left to finally make a craft caddy, which will be my next project!
I made a new set as a present.
Bubble basket full of pattern weights achieved. I might make a few more out of my square scraps when I get to that point but for now i am very happy.
I was sick last week and didnt do much sewing for my business. I did manage to make some cute pattern weights from some of my favourite fabrics though. 😊😊
