Making progress on the skirt portion of my pirate costume.
I havent been doing much sewing the last few months but I'm so happy to say I'm finally getting into the groove again. First project completed was this historically inspired corset vest. Its an alteration of my Hobbit Vest pattern so let me know if anyones interested in me posting the updated pattern to my website.
I'm planning on using this as the base to my renfaire costume this year so many more steps to come before we reach the final result but I'm very pleased with the progress so far!
DIY Knit Shipwreck Shawl Free Pattern
Updated 2019 - corrections to pattern
This stunning Knit Shipwreck Shawl was designed and modeled by Bethany Kok. In the post and pattern you will get detailed information on how to dye the shawl after you finish making it, and also how to place the beads in the pattern.
From Bethany Kok:
Shipwreck is true lace knitting, as pattern rows in two of the motifs are stacked without intervening “plain” knitted rows. Since the shawl is knitted circularly, however, there is never any need to purl. The right side of the work always faces the knitter, making it easy to spot mistakes. There are only seven increase rows in the entire project, and only one motif is worked at a time.
Beads are pre-strung on the yarn and knitted into the faggot lace border at random intervals, and can be omitted if desired.

Here are 543 images (1.5GB) of items at the Philadelphia Museum of Art arms and armor exhibit You're free to use them for anything, even c
casual reminder that this museum has their entire collection digitized and available free for public use: https://art.thewalters.org/ and they have armor/weapons there
I had a lot of digital drawing i wanted to do and decided to diy my own drawing glove first instead of buying one and it was so worth the effort i cant believe how nice is to draw with.
Hobbit skirt reveal! Admittedly its been done for a little while but todays the first day i was able to actually try it on with the vest.
Of course i wanted to originally make this out of wool but for one im alergic to the wool blanket i have so i didnt want to risk it and two wools expensive so i didnt want to waste it if i messed up the first attempt.
The best alternative i could come up with was flannel and honestly i dont mind it. It was cheap, the fabric is soft, and the skirt is comfortable. The only downside i can see is the drape isnt quite as nice as wool.
Still im very happy with it. And its hiding the outline of my corset really well, which was one of the main reasons i wanted to make this skirt.
I'm so happy to say my website is finally finished! I've been working on restructuring and updating for a few months now and I'm so incredibly happy with the result. There's still a lot of projects to add and blog posts to finish up but it's live and ready to go!
I've got a few free patterns I want to finish up next before anything else but it'll take a little bit of time to get those ready to go as well.

Behold! My worm pillow! It was not originally my intention for this pillow to turn out quite so worm like but i love it anyways. I had some leftover pink fuzzy fabric from the Bibble costume and a whole bags worth of fabric scraps so i decided use both up in a really long pillow. The fabric scraps make the pillow very dense and a little heavy which is exactly what i was going for i could not be happier.
Attaching the last few buttons to my hobbit skirt!
I made a coozy for my iced coffee. I dont go out for them often but when i do i always regret not having something to keep my hands from getting cold so this was the solution!

My planner for the new year is finally finished! Ive been pretty busy recently so i havent had much time for crafting but i wanted to get this done before January.
This is my second attempt at book binding and it could definitely use some work, mostly because the glue i used wasnt the best and i used regular cardboard i had on hand instead of chipboard so its not the best over all but itll do for this year.
I have half a mind to attempt a new planner every year but i'll wait and see how im feeling next december before fully committing to that plan.
Overall though i am happy enough with how it turned out being only my second attempt and with not the best materials.
Potholders are done!
Havent had much time for sewing recently but what time I do have is going to making pot holders for a christmas gift. They're almost done already, just got to finish the edges and add the loop
