I finished the Undyne Ref!!!

Welcome to my Undertale AU (Pattern!) ask Blog!! Feel free to ask questions about the story as I develop it! May make short comics as well! Ref sheets will come out over time. :D

Basic story: In a version of the Underground where the CORE has exploded, monsters are left with a surplus of energy, allowing quick technological advancements and expanding underground system.

Characters:

Pattern!Sans - He and his younger brother are the results of an experiment by the creator of the CORE. Sans is the only one left who seems to remember him and seeks justice for the misdeeds of their creator.

Papyrus - Sans’s younger brother and closest confidant. Ambitious for his future, he trains to be in the Royal guard, whilst simultaneously seeking the lost history of he and his brother’s mysterious origin.

Undyne- soon to be leader of the Royal guard and founding member of a gang of human soul hunting monsters. She will stop at nothing to see her people freed- not without a little fun at least.

Alphys- a young engineer working with her greatest creation to hold together the powerful leftover energy of the CORE. There’s only one more component required to complete her plans of escape.

Mettaton- a great machine with the soul of a flamboyant ghost, holding within himself the power of the CORE itself. He runs the entertainment in the underground and is practically an eighth wonder to ever seen in person.

Grilby- (in Progress)

Frisk- a human child who finds themself lost within the cavernous and labyrinth-like underground. Alone in this new and dangerous world without a guide, a certain monster takes pity on their valuable soul.

Mettaton and Alphys very very Rough animatic!!!

Mettaton in Patterntale is actyally 30 Ft Tall and is considered an eighth wonder to the underground so Alphys is sure to be proud of her accomplishments!

WHAT ARE THE METALS ON SANS AND PAPYRUS’S FACES? AND WHY DOES HE WEAR A CHOKER WAS IT A GIFT TO HIM OR DOES HE JUST THINK ITS COOL? IS IT BOTH OR NEITHER?

Sans are a type of copper. The blue side is oxidized.

Gaster used copper because it conducts electricity

Pap has copper too but it's more a mishmash of conductable elements and his copper parts are waxed so it doesn't oxidize.

Also, Sans likes spikes cause it makes him feel tough. It was prob a gift from Undyne tbh but it's not too special just character design :DD

Is part of the story that Papyrus learns the truth about Gaster? Not exactly the truth but his nature as a creator/experimentalist and about Sans’s soul? What’s his reaction and how does this affect his relationship with his brother and his idea of Gaster?

Pap does ultimately learn the truth (sorta), but is less upset and waaaay more concerned. There's a lot he'll never learn and the only reason he's able to find the last important bits of info is because of Frisk. He does figure out that Gaster was not a good person. Though it sends him into a sort of spiral.

Ofc, learning you were supposed to be the ultimate perfect copy of another person isn't exactly easy.

He loves his brother unconditionally and so when he finds out about Sans's soul he's incredibly torn between his ambitions to be in the Royal guard, his loyalty to the soul hunters and his love towards his brother who basically raised him. He doesn't take it easy and pretty much breaks down because he doesn't know what to do. Though I'm not entirely sure at this point this is the current concept.

Also

Pap has spoken to an apperation of Gaster multiple times. So that's a bit of a shocker too

Especially after he learns how much that fact has effected his brother
